Pincha Mayurasana/Feathered Peacock Pose
This inversion pose tests pretty much every part of my concentration and balance. I have never felt comfortable upside down and there is always a fear of falling!!!
Itβs a work in progress and a good reminder to me that in my yoga practice as well as in life, patience is required and fear of the unknown will always be there. Bringing my mind into the present moment by following my breath, noticing how my body feels and moving through the fear is what helps in Pincha as well as day to day in life. Since I have the tendency to over think things (think about the future, what may or may not happen!) and then talk myself out of things, consciously bringing my mind back to the present, back to what is happening right now, by noticing when my mind wanders off, helps immensely in life (and yoga!).

After a chilly (brrr!) but lovely break in Denmark I am back and ready to teach YOGA tomorrow, 915am at the Cambridge Bowling Club, Floreat.
Mats are available for use if needed :)
The slow(ish) Vinyasa flow is suitable for beginners!

Balasana
Also known as Child's Pose, this wonderful pose would have to be one of my all time favourites. Almost instantly it brings a sense of calmness to the body and mind and helps to connect to your breath. Other benefits of this pose include:
> Stretching of the muscles and connective tissue surrounding the spine as well as lower back, relieving lower back pain.
> Stimulating the digestion by massaging the lower abdomen when knees are together.
> Counteracting the effects of sitting all day - doing this pose with knees wide and big toes together will help to open the hips.
> Allowing the body to fully rest after a challenging pose.
> Restoring energy if you're feeling unwell or tired.
We will definitely be including this pose in Thursdays class!
