Today, I got asked about Malcolm’s book & if one of our amazing members could purchase one then I starting thinking about why Malcolm decided to write Sweat Equity, it was never about writing a book just to say he had written a book.
The whole purpose was pretty simple.
Inspire people. Educate people. And share what he’s learnt the hard way.
Malcolm lives & breathes the fitness industry having spent decades in martial arts/fitness and business world. He’s opened gyms, built businesses, made mistakes, started again, figured things out as he went and learnt a lot along the way.
And eventually he thought…
Why keep all of that in his head?
Sweat Equity was written to give people the information he wished someone had given him when he was starting out.
It covers the practical side of building a 24/7 gym from finding a location and dealing with the legal side, to equipment, branding, marketing, operations and building a community. But it also talks about the reality behind it all: the wins, the failures, the lessons and the setbacks.
Because starting a business isn’t just about the finished product.
It’s the years of work nobody sees.
The early mornings.
The late nights.
The mistakes.
The money you put back in.
The problems you have to solve.
The people you meet.
And the decision to keep going when it would be easier not to.
That’s where the title Sweat Equity comes from.
Malcolm wanted to put his experience on paper so someone else could potentially learn from it, avoid a few mistakes & maybe believe they could build something of their own.
No big promises.
Just 50 years of experience, put into a book and passed on.
And honestly, that was the point from day one.
If one person reads it and thinks, “Maybe I can do this too,” then it’s done its job. 💚
He NEVER QUIT
He NEVER GAVE UP
So that’s why SWEAT EQUITY exists today.
Thanks for the support!
