For the past 7 years, our Netball Program athletes have had the absolute privilege of learning from one of the very bestโฆ ๐๐
A huge thank you to Melanie Rainey for once again delivering specialist defensive sessions across our Netball Program over the past several weeks.
Melโs impact on our program runs far deeper than a few sessions. From the very beginning, when our program was still finding its feet, Mel backed our vision, invested in our athletes, and helped shape the standards and defensive identity that now define Living Waters Lutheran College Netball. ๐๐
As Head Coach of the Fremantle Sharks Open WANL team and through her continued involvement within the WA State pathway program, Mel brings an elite level of knowledge, detail, and professionalism into every session.
The defensive strength our college is now known for is no accident. It is built from years of consistent teaching, relentless standards, and the willingness of both staff and athletes to continue reinforcing the habits, principles, and mindset Mel has poured into this program over time.
Mel, thank you for believing in us when we were new, for helping build the culture and standards we now pride ourselves on, and for continuing to invest in our athletes year after year.
And the best partโฆ sheโs not done yet ๐๐ฅ
Mel returns to the shores of Living Waters in just a few weeks as she leads our Year 9/10 Tier 1 team into their 2026 SSWA High School Cup campaign ๐๐

๐ Some athletes are lucky enough to have mum in the stands every gameโฆ and some are lucky enough to have someone who chooses to stand in with the same love โค๏ธ
Today, we celebrate all of the women who show up for our athletes. ๐ซถ
Thank you for every unseen moment of love. The sacrifices made quietly, the constant encouragement, the car rides, the prayers, the comforting hugs, and the way you never stop believing in them, even on the days they struggle to believe in themselves. ๐
Our athletes are better because of you ๐ค

Living Watersโฆ get excited ๐ฎโ๐จ๐๐
We are beyond excited to welcome back Alice Teague-Neeld to the ๐ LWLC Institute of Sport ๐
A current West Coast Fever Vice-Captain and Australian Diamonds athlete ๐๐, Alice is one of the premier midcourters in Australian netball and we are incredibly lucky to have her returning to speak to our athletes.
We had the absolute pleasure of having Alice attend our IOS Seniors Dinner last year, where she connected so authentically with our senior athletes, sharing her journey, mindset and experiences from elite sport. She was so incredible that we knew we had to bring her backโฆ this time to inspire our entire Netball Program ๐๐ฅ
And if that wasnโt enoughโฆ earlier this year when our Year 5s and Year 12s attended the Fever v Giants clash in Round 3, Alice went out of her way after the game to come over to our crowd, speak with our athletes and sign merchandise. That level of humility, generosity and care left a lasting impact on our students ๐๐

๐ Three of our Senior teams headed to Mike Barnett Sports Complex this week for the SSWA Senior Harbour League Carnival, proudly representing Living Waters throughout the day.
๐ The 10โ12 Boys B Team brought relentless defensive pressure from the opening whistle, creating steals, fast-break layups, and open perimeter shots through their hard running and intensity. A highly successful day for the boys!
๐ The 10โ12 Boys A Team faced older and bigger competition but responded with resilience and composure. As the day progressed, the boys found their rhythm, adapted well, and ensured their presence was felt in every game.
๐ The 10โ12 Girls Team, led by Coach Brent, were the youngest side in the competition, with many athletes playing up an age group. Despite this, the girls competed with outstanding heart and determination, using strong defensive pressure and fast-paced transition play to create scoring opportunities. Another fantastic tournament for our LWLC girls!

๐๐ COMMUNITY SPIRIT DAY AT LIVING WATERS LUTHERAN COLLEGE ๐
The final day of Term 1 at Living Waters was nothing short of incredible, as our College came alive for Community Spirit Day. A celebration of connection, creativity, and service.
Our Secondary students took the lead, designing and running a wide range of stalls for the entire school community. From games and challenges to food, activities, and interactive experiences, the energy across campus was electric. It was a powerful reminder of what makes Living Waters so specialโฆ students stepping up, taking ownership, and creating something meaningful for others.
What stood out most was the sense of unity and joy. Laughter echoed, friendships flourished across year levels, and every corner of the College reflected a genuine spirit of giving and togetherness. A true showcase of student leadership in action.
And of courseโฆ our Institute of Sport athletes were out in force ๐ช๐ฝ Bringing the energy, the enthusiasm, and that unmistakable presence whether running stalls, supporting peers, or simply getting around the day, they embodied everything we stand for. ๐
As we head into the school holidays, the IOS team would like to wish everyone a truly well-earned and refreshing break. Whether youโre travelling afar or enjoying the simple luxury of slow mornings and PJ days at home, we hope itโs filled with rest, joy, and a chance to recharge. ๐ฉต

๐ฅYear 9/10 Nutrition Program ๐
This term, our Year 9 and 10 Netball and Basketball athletes turned their attention to a key ingredient of performance โ nutrition! ๐๐ช
While it may seem like a small piece of the puzzle, understanding how to properly fuel their bodies is a game-changer for training, performance, recovery, and overall wellbeing ๐Students explored what it means to eat with purpose โ learning how to balance what they eat, how much they need, and when to fuel for maximum impact.
Our Year 10s even got hands-on in the kitchen, creating their own overnight oats โ a simple, nutritious snack perfect for busy athletes on the go!๐
Both cohorts also took part in an engaging โFuelling for Successโ incursion with Tayla from Move Easy Exercise Physiology. Tayla shared practical, real-world strategies to help students make smart food and hydration choices across the day โ from school to training, and into game day and carnivals. She also highlighted the impact poor fuelling and hydration can have on performance, helping students connect their habits with their outcomes.
A big thank you to Tayla for inspiring our athletes with such valuable knowledge! Weโre excited to see how our Year 9 and 10 students apply these strategies as they head into another busy and competitive term. Letโs fuel up and get to work! ๐ฅ๐
