Drunks come runner up and farewell our greatest french canadian Julian Vaughn

Big Thanks to Julian for organising the tournament today! This being your last week in Perth you will be missed greatly by the Mighty Drunks

After 5 straight games the drunks came into the final playoff tired and still very hung over. Coming up against some tough competition with a couple of fill ins (parker and robbo) we pushed though to make it to the final playoffs against the Manning man childs who absolutely pumped us. The drunks were down and out for the count.

All in all it was a great day and days like today is the reason why this is the greatest league in Perth. Great people and great hockey.

FYI we are hurting physically and emotionally.

Also thanks to Jean-luc assisting with coordinating

MIGHTY DRUNKS FINALS RUN

After a tremendous second season the drunks had started their debut finals run with a surprising win against Swan View Draught. With the drunks running there almost full squad and in the 37 degree heat this was possibly the edge the drunks needed to get over the line. Lucky for the 2 goals win, which possibly could have been only 1 goal with a controversial kicked puck into goal.

The following Friday was against K-Town Cooks with our captain Fraser Read out of the mix we knew if was going to tough, and it was! K-Town was by far the toughest team we have played. With blokes on quads and turbs scoring goals skating backwards, we were in for it. Coming into the 3rd period 3-10 the drunks had a last minute sprint and finished the game 7-11 and thus ending the drunks finals run.

The drunks have come a long way from a good few not even been able to skate at the beginning of 2016a. They are all pumped for 2017a

A.Gomes was born in Bombay, India; it was there on the cobble stoned streets Able learned how to skate.
Abel played junior roller hockey for the Maharajah Saffrons as their goal keeper and was apart of the 1995/1996 Championship squad.
In 1998 the Saffrons toured Sri Lanka in a bid bring more interest to the game; it was during this time when Abel's culinary skills would earn him the nick name "Curry King" as he was not only a vital line in defence he was also the teams head chef. His coach at the time Rogan Josh was quoted saying "Yes, the boy can skate, Yes the boy can shoot, but my golly golly gosh can the boy cook!"
Whilst A.Gomes was carrying out his final years of study he took part in a student exchange program and moved to Fargo, North Dakota where he further honed his craft playing for the West Fargo Kimonos only this time as an attacking mid fielder. He was awarded the Dairy Queen best new talent 2002.
Abel then decided to take time away from the game and concentrate on being a chef and tour Australia on a working visa. He toured Australia for many years working at an arrange of fast food establishments as a delivery driver in his auto rickshaw he brought over from India and eventually save up enough money to start his own business. Abel currently resides in Perth and has a food van "The Golden Papadum " it was there he met a intoxicated customer; the Marmion Mighty Drunks Captain F.Reid who remembered him from when the West Fargo Kimonos played the Calgary Woodpecker in an exhibition match and invited Able to join the franchise.
