We couldn’t be any prouder of Nathaniel✨

Nathaniel finished 2nd in his division at the Australian National Karate Championships, earning selection to represent Australia at the Junior World Championships later this year 🇵🇱

What makes this achievement even more special is that Nathaniel’s karate journey began in Tasmania, and it was in Tasmania that he earned his very first selection to represent Australia on the world stage.

Next stop is Thailand, to continue preparing for the Junior World Championships. Congratulations, Nathaniel! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you achieve next.

I could not be prouder of the performances of our West Coast Karate athletes at the Australian National Karate Championships.

Both with achievements and performances of which they should be enormously proud.

Mathias competed at his first Australian National Championships and returned home with a bronze medal in Boys Under 14 Kumite.

To win a National Championship medal at your first Nationals is an outstanding achievement and an exciting milestone in what we hope will be a long competitive journey.

Zali, also competing at her first Australian National Championships, produced three highly competitive performances in Girls Under 14 Kumite.

Although she narrowly missed the bronze medal, her performances demonstrated that she belongs at this level. Sometimes the result alone does not properly reflect the quality of an athlete’s performance, and Zali should take enormous confidence from the way she competed on the national stage.
Congratulations to Mathias and Zali on their first time National Championships, You represented West Coast Karate and Western Australia with distinction, and we are enormously proud.

And of course, a thank you to our incredible support crew. These achievements are shared with all of you, and we are so grateful for your unwavering support.

West Coast Karate — Australian National Championships

I could not be prouder of the performances of our West Coast Karate athletes at the Australian National Karate Championships.

Four athletes. Four very different stages of their competitive journeys. Each with achievements and performances of which they should be enormously proud.

Hannah Sullivan continued an extraordinary period of sustained success, winning her fifth consecutive Individual Senior Women’s National Championship.

Five consecutive National titles at senior level is an exceptional achievement and a testament to Hannah’s consistency, resilience, preparation and ability to perform under pressure year after year.

Hannah also competed in her fifth consecutive Senior Women’s Team Kumite final, captained the Western Australian State Team and has been selected to represent Australia at the Senior World Karate Championships.

Her contribution, however, extends well beyond her own results. As State Captain and one of Western Australia’s most experienced athletes, Hannah continues to provide leadership, support and encouragement to athletes throughout the team.

Nathaniel Cowey produced an outstanding performance to win the silver medal in Junior Male -68 kg Kumite.

Nathaniel has also been selected to represent Australia at the Junior World Karate Championships, an achievement that reflects the enormous amount of work he has invested in his development and the progress he continues to make as an international-level athlete.

These results are particularly pleasing because they represent athletes at very different stages of development — from first-time National Championship competitors to Junior World Championship selection and a five-time consecutive Senior National Champion.

Success in sport is never simply about what happens on competition day. It is built through years of training, discipline, setbacks, persistence and the willingness to continue learning.

Congratulations to Hannah, Nathaniel, Mathias and Zali.

You represented West Coast Karate and Western Australia with distinction, and we are enormously proud of each of you.

Day 2 at the Australian National Championships saw Sensei Hannah and Nathaniel step onto the tatami with outstanding performances.
We are thrilled to celebrate Sensei Hannah, who claimed her fifth consecutive Australian National Championship in the Female +68 kg Kumite division. This remarkable achievement marks the longest winning streak by any athlete at the Australian National Championships.
Nathaniel also fought brilliantly throughout the day, earning the Silver Medal in the Junior Male -68 kg Kumite division. An outstanding performance and a fantastic result.
A special congratulations to Sensei Brian, who had the privilege of coaching both athletes on the day.

A massive day in Hobart as Zali and Mathias represented Western Australia for the very first time at the National Karate Championships! 🥋✈️After solid performances in the morning Kata, they moved on to the afternoon Kumite:🔸 Zali secured a brilliant second-round win, pushed through a tough quarter-final, and fought right to the end in a very close Bronze medal match.🔸 Mathias bounced back after a narrow second-round loss to the eventual winner, fighting beautifully through the repechage to secure a well-deserved Bronze medal! 🥉Huge congratulations to you both—what an outstanding achievement on the national stage! 🌟👏
