Huge congratulations to our WCK Students! 🏆🥋

Last Sunday, our students headed to the Gold Netball Centre for the final WAKL tournament of the season—the Shotokan Open.
With no selection pressure on the line, this day was all about participation, development, friendship, and community support.
We brought a fresh, relatively inexperienced team - some stepping onto the competition tatami for the very first time. While the medals were fantastic, what was most impressive was the incredible support of our WCK family:

🤝 Leadership & Volunteering:
• Sensei Rebecca & Ryan gave their time as referees/judges—their growing expertise is a massive asset to Karate WA!
• Sensei Hannah & Sensei Eric dedicated their entire day to coaching and guiding our athletes.
• Lauren stepped up to assist on the officials' tables, and our amazing parent support crew turned up in huge numbers!
• Our Young Leaders: Led by Nathaniel (assistant coach), alongside Mathias, Lucas, and Zali, who spent the day warming up and mentoring our youngest and newest competitors.

🥇🥈🥉 On the Mat Results:
• U13 Developing Team Kata: WCK took over! Gold went to Tim, Zali, & Mathias. A massive shoutout to team "Purple Haze" (Diandra, Chelsea, & Aria), who finished a highly credible 4th!
• Tim: Showed incredible resilience to back up his team performance with a Bronze in the U14 Boys Open Kata!
• Alia: A double medal weekend! Took home medals in both the U7 Kata and Kumite.
• Zali: Performed beautifully in the fiercely competitive U13 Open Girls Kumite & Kata. Her progress over the last 18 months has been outstanding!
• 10 & 11 Developing Girls Kumite: WCK dominated the podium! Aria fought superbly to take Gold 🥇, Diandra claimed a fantastic 3rd place Bronze 🥉, and Chelsea narrowly missed the final to finish a strong 4th!
• Jaxon: In his very first tournament, he secured a brilliant Silver 🥈 in the Boys 12-13 Developing Kumite. A bright future lies ahead!
• Mathias: Hard work paid off with Gold 🥇 in the U14 Open Kumite!
• Lucas: Capped off the day with a well-earned Gold 🥇 in the highly competitive Cadet Boys (14-15) Kumite!

We are so incredibly proud of every single competitor, coach, official, and parent. What a way to wrap up the 2026 league season! 🔴⚫⚪

West Coast Karate is proud to announce that two of its athletes, Hannah Sullivan and Nathaniel Cowey, have been selected to represent Australia at upcoming World Karate Federation (WKF) World Championships.

Their selection is another significant milestone for WCK and reflects years of dedication, disciplined training and outstanding performances at both national and international level.
