THIRDS - Six games into the 2026 season and the Belmont Thirds have already become one of the best stories at the football club. Sitting 4-2 and right in the mix near the top of the ladder is an outstanding achievement, particularly when you consider how many players in the side are pulling on the boots and playing football for the very first time.

From day one, the focus for this group has been about creating an environment where players can enjoy their football, improve every week and become part of the Belmont culture — and they have absolutely embraced it. The growth shown across the opening six rounds has been enormous, with players developing confidence, understanding the game more each week and building genuine connection with one another.

The results have been fantastic, but what has probably been even more impressive is the energy and spirit this group has brought to the club. The Thirds boys have instantly made Belmont a better place to be around. Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and love for being part of the football club has added another layer to the culture being built across all grades in 2026.

To sit 4-2 in a competitive competition is a credit to the players and coaches who have bought into the process from the start. Week after week the side has continued to compete hard, play for each other and show resilience in key moments. For a group with so many first-year footballers, the improvement already shown has been massive and there is clearly still plenty of upside ahead.

The Thirds have quickly become an important part of the Belmont Football Club. They’ve brought new faces, new friendships and a genuine sense of excitement around the group. Whether it’s on game day, at training or around the clubrooms after games, their impact has been felt everywhere.

Most importantly, this feels like only the beginning. With confidence building and players continuing to improve every week, the Belmont Thirds have laid an incredible foundation for both this season and the future of the football club.

RESERVES - Seven rounds into the 2026 season and the Belmont Reserves have firmly established themselves as one of the competition’s benchmark sides, sitting second on the ladder with a strong 6-1 record. Only percentage currently separates the top sides, and Belmont has built an excellent platform through the opening two months of football.

What has stood out most has been the consistency and professionalism of the group week in and week out. The side has not only found ways to win games, but has done so playing a strong brand of football built around pressure, contested ball and selfless team football. With a percentage of over 166, the group has shown the ability to both defend strongly and punish opposition teams when momentum swings their way.

The depth across the side has been a major positive. Senior players have set the tone with leadership and standards, while younger players continue to develop confidence and impact at the level. There has been genuine buy-in to roles, and the connection across the group has become a real strength early in the year.

Importantly, the Reserves have responded well to challenges throughout the first seven rounds. Whether it’s bouncing back after setbacks during games or maintaining composure in key moments, the side has shown maturity and resilience that good teams need across a long season.

To sit 6-1 after seven rounds is a credit to the work done over pre-season and the commitment shown by the entire playing group and coaching staff. The side has placed itself in a strong position moving into the middle part of the season, but there is also a clear understanding internally that the job is far from finished.

The most exciting part is that there still feels like another level this group can reach. With strong competition for spots, improving chemistry and belief continuing to build, the Belmont Reserves have every reason to feel confident about what they are capable of achieving in 2026.

LEAGUE - Seven rounds into the 2026 season and the Belmont League side has given itself a genuine platform to launch from, currently sitting 5-2 and in third position on the ladder. With a game clear buffer over fourth and fifth, the group has put itself in a strong position heading into the middle part of the season while still knowing there is plenty of improvement left in us.

The year has been built around consistency, effort and a strong team-first mentality. At our best, we’ve shown we can match it with anyone in the competition, playing an exciting brand of football built on pressure, contest and ball movement. The challenge games against the top sides have shown exactly where the standard is, but more importantly reinforced the belief internally that this group is more than capable of competing with the best teams in C2.

To sit 5-2 after seven rounds is a credit to the players’ buy-in over pre-season and their commitment to improving week after week. There’s been strong contributions across every line, with players stepping into roles, younger blokes continuing to develop and leaders driving standards both on and off the field.

What has probably been most pleasing is the resilience shown throughout the opening seven rounds. Whether it’s responding after losses, handling momentum swings during games or finding ways to grind out important wins, the group continues to grow in maturity and belief.

At the halfway point of the first half of the season, Belmont has positioned itself exactly where it wants to be, in the hunt, building momentum and still with significant upside left to come. The focus now is continuing to improve, staying connected as a group and making sure the second half of the season is even stronger than the first.

The ladder is tight at the top, but Belmont has earned the right to believe that if it keeps improving and stays disciplined around its standards, this group can genuinely challenge the best sides in the competition throughout 2026
