Surge Cricket Club: Reflecting on a Season of Growth, Resilience, and Triumph! 🏏
As we wrap up our 2024/25 Winter Campaign, it’s time to reflect on an incredible season that’s been full of growth, challenges, and triumphs for Surge Cricket Club. We've come a long way from where we started, and there's so much to be proud of.
A Strong Finish to the 2023/24 Winter Season
Before diving into this season, let's take a moment to celebrate the outstanding conclusion of our inaugural 2023/24 Winter Campaign. In our very first year, we made it to the Top 4 of the Perth Winter Cup, a remarkable achievement for a club just getting started. Our squad of 18 players showed incredible grit and talent, and while we were narrowly beaten in a thrilling semifinal by the Cannington Tigers, our performance was nothing short of brilliant. To compete so well against an experienced team like the Tigers speaks volumes about the potential of this group. It was a fantastic way to kick off our journey, and we’re all excited for what’s to come.
A Season of Expansion: 60 Players Strong
Fast forward to this season—our club has grown from 18 to 60 players! With this expansion, we knew we’d need to step up our game. To accommodate our growing squad, we entered two teams into major competitions:
Bright Mark Group Perth Challenge Cup (Saturdays)
All-Nations Cup - Premier League (Sundays)
Managing two teams and balancing player commitments presented new challenges, but it also gave more players the opportunity to shine. And while the season tested us in many ways, we couldn’t be more proud of how everyone came together to support each other and keep pushing forward.
Bright Mark Group Perth Challenge Cup: A Learning Experience
Our team in the Bright Mark Group Perth Challenge Cup faced tough competition, going up against seven of the region's most established teams. Despite finishing 7th out of 8, we didn’t let the result define us. Every match was an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve, and we held our own against some serious competition. The experience has been invaluable, and we know we’ll come back stronger next season with even more knowledge and confidence.
All-Nations Cup: A Strong Group Stage Performance
Our All-Nations Cup - Premier League team had an impressive run in the group stages. We lost just one match in the second-to-last round, finishing Top 3 in our group—a fantastic result considering we were still building our team chemistry. Unfortunately, a bye in the final round kept us from progressing further, but the overall performance showed just how much potential this team has. We’re ready to compete at even higher levels next season!
Emerging Leaders and Team Unity
One of the most exciting things about this season was seeing new leaders step up within the club. Whether it was through their performances on the field, their support off it, or their ability to keep the team motivated, these emerging leaders have been key in keeping the spirit of Surge strong. As a relatively new club, it’s been amazing to see our players grow not just as cricketers but as leaders, too.
Through all the challenges, we’ve built a strong sense of unity and camaraderie that will serve us well in the years to come. We’re more than just a team—we’re a family, and the bond between us is stronger than ever.
Looking Ahead: The Future Is Bright
As we reflect on the 2024/25 season, we know this is just the beginning. Our club has made significant strides this year, and we’re excited to build on that foundation. We’ll continue to refine our skills, strengthen our strategies, and come back even stronger next season. There’s so much potential within this group, and we’re eager to see where this journey takes us.
A Huge Thank You
A massive thank you to everyone who’s been part of our journey—our players, coaches, families, and fans. Your support has been invaluable, and we couldn’t have achieved all this without you. Surge Cricket Club is just getting started, and we can’t wait to continue growing together!
Here’s to another season of learning, improving, and Surging forward toward even greater success! 💥
Surge On! 🚀

Controversy was looming over the tournament, as a few teams exploited the tournament rules and registered multiple players heading into the last six games of the tournament.
Player behavior on the field and off the field has been appalling.
Hat's off to the tournament organisers for their rapid action.
S.C.C. will stay true to the squad of 27 cricketers that got S.C.C. into the top three on the ladder. A special mention to the team of 20 players that registered and played cricket to the highest standards. 👏🏼

Round 12. S.C.C vs Buffaloes C.C
It was a freezing winter morning. Our initial plan was to bat first, but the Buffaloes' captain won the toss and decided to bat. S.C.C. used the new ball extremely well during the powerplay taking regular wickets. Limiting an explosive batting lineup to 122.
Even though S.C.C. felt it was an achievable target, S.C.C. couldn't get over the line. Our top order collapsed in the power play, and although the middle-order batters tried hard, it wasn't enough.
The best part of the game was that nobody gave up until the last moment, which was great. It was not easy to field in those weather conditions, but the boys put in a good effort and managed to make some good catches. Even though we didn't end up winning, S.C.C. is proud of the way the boys played.
The unfortunate incident after the game combined with the Maylands game has made the team stronger. A defining moment for S.C.C.
S.C.C. hope to play a stacked Buffaloes team in the finals!
