Itâs Okay If Motherhood Feels Different Than You Imagined
If you love your baby but still feel lonely, overwhelmed, or lost⌠youâre not failing. Youâre human.
Motherhood can be beautiful and heavy at the same time.
Both truths can exist side by side, and thatâs okay.
You donât have to do this aloneâeven when it feels like everyone else has it all together.
A little support, a tiny pause, a deep breathâthose things matter. đ

Youâre Allowed to Feel Touched Out
Loving your baby deeply and feeling touched out can exist at the same time.
If breastfeeding or contact naps feel overwhelming some daysâthat doesnât make you ungrateful.
It makes you human.
You deserve rest, space, and support too. đ
Here are a few gentle ways to give yourself a little space:
⢠Step outside for 2 minutes of fresh air â no phone, just breathe
⢠Put on one song that makes your nervous system unclench
⢠Sit next to your baby instead of holding them (even for a minute)
⢠Ask for help without explaining or justifying it
⢠Take a walk with your baby â a little fresh air does wonders for both of you.
⢠Lower the bar for the rest of the day â survival counts
Remind yourself: this feeling passes đ
Self-care doesnât have to be big to matter. Even tiny moments of space count. đ

Feeding to sleep isnât a âbad habit.â
Itâs biology. Comfort. Regulation. Connection.
If itâs working for you and your baby right nowâthere is nothing to fix.

Itâs the middle of summer here in Perth â and even though it hasnât been as brutal as usual, we all know those hot days are still coming đ

So letâs talk hydration and breastfeeding â without the pressure.
Hereâs what the research actually says:
⨠You donât need to force fluids â drinking to thirst is enough for most breastfeeding mums.
⨠Chugging more water doesnât increase milk supply (yep, thatâs a myth).
⨠Be more mindful on really hot days, when exercising, or if youâre sweating more.
⨠Signs you need more fluids: dark urine, constipation, headaches, low energy.
⨠Itâs not âonly waterâ â fruit, veggies, soup, milk, tea and smoothies all count too.
Real-life mum tip:
Keep a drink where you feed or pump and take a few sips every time you sit down.
No pressure. No perfection. Just support for your body đ

Life got full⌠so I stepped back.
The last year has been a mix of moving house, family life, and supporting my beautiful clients â all while trying to keep some energy for myself too. Itâs been busy, emotional, and honestly a lot at times.
Instagram took a back seat, not because I stopped caring, but because I needed to be more present in my real life for a while.

Back to Holding Space for Families Again
Itâs been a while since we took a proper break as a familyâno schedules, no rushing, no âwhatâs next.â Just time to explore, eat well, meet kind souls, and be together. And it was incredible.
Sharing the experience with my parents made it even more meaningful. There was something really beautiful about seeing all generations slowing down together.
Now, Iâm homeâand ready to walk alongside the families I support with a full heart, fresh energy, and deep gratitude.â
Motherhood doesnât come with time off, but taking time awayâto rest, to reconnect, to be humanâis everything.
đˇ One of those moments that felt like magic.

I first posted this little viral post almost 5 years ago and nothing has changed! Galactagogues are legit, but no amount of milo, oats, brewers yeast etc is going to make milk. These things (in stupidly large quantities) act like cheerleaders, but do not run the face for you!
