Well done Aaden, and thanks to Adam Hort MLA for supporting our swimmers in chasing their dreams.

Great to meet Aaden, who called into the electorate office to show me his silver medal from the 14 years 100m freestyle at the 2026 Australian Age Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast in April.

An outstanding achievement and a real credit to the hard work and commitment behind the scenes.

It was a pleasure to hear about his experience competing against some of the best young swimmers in the country. Aaden, along with Maddison, represented Guildford & Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club Inc, travelling with their coach Craig, and competed at a very high level.

We have some incredibly talented young people coming through the Kalamunda electorate, and it’s always a privilege to meet them and hear their stories. I’m always happy to support these endeavours.

Congratulations again Aaden, and all the very best for what comes next.

Last week was National Volunteer week…GK would like to thank our TO’s - Dave, Trevor, Caron, Jen and Lauren.

Each of them have volunteered so much of their time over many, many years and we are truly grateful to them πŸ’™πŸ’›

Junior/Intermediate GK parents - our TO’s pictured either have a swimmer who has retired from swimming or have a swimmer in our upper squads.

We would love for you to join them in volunteering to be a Technical Official. You can put in as much or as little time as you can. Every little bit helps the club πŸ™‚ Full training and support is there - please reach out to Trevor if you are willing and able - [email protected]

We’re proud to host Pharmacy777 Midland at our club meet this Sunday (24 May) β€” they’ll be offering FREE flu vaccines, plus the Flumist nasal spray for children aged 2–11 who don’t like needles. As a community-first club, keeping our swimmers and families healthy matters to us. Pop by between 2:00–3:00pm at Darling Range Sports College and get protected. Have questions? Come say hi!

A big congrats to Trevor Verran and Caron Bennier on receiving their 15 year pins to commemorate their 15 years of service as Technical Officials in Swimming.

Both Caron and Trevor continue to assist at both Swimming WA and GK meets despite their children having β€œretired” from swimming many years ago πŸ’™πŸ’›

Thank you to both of them for their continued service to GK in particular. Your longevity in the sport and commitment to GK is to be admired πŸ’™πŸ’›
