We concluded our most recent article with this statement… We can’t take credit for it - We owe that to but we strongly agree with it.
•
All of us who have worked in healthcare will have sadly seen the effects of ageing and disability - It comes for all of us, it’s not a question of if, but when…
•
We recommend doing everything you can to mitigate it - not just for yourself but for all your loved ones who care about you living a long and healthy life. Do it for them.
•
In our next 3 part article series we intend to expand upon this - Discussing the reasons why training consistently matters, to you and those around you.

The final article in our 3 part series on Training Programs has gone up this week team… I thoroughly recommend giving them a read and letting me know if you have any questions 🙂
•
I think it’s important people understand why something is worth doing a certain way in order for it to remain a sustained habit, so understanding the “why” in this case could be invaluable in maintaining healthy habits that should support your strength and longevity over the remaining years of your life 👍

We have a broad mix of clients at West Coast Barbell Club ranging from those totally new to lifting weights, through to competitive Powerlifters like Adam here 💪
•
In almost all cases, as our clients become stronger and more consistent, we introduce RPE based training… If you’re unsure what this means or looks like please READ our most recent article on our club site 👍
•
Thanks team!

“Listen to your body” and “enjoy the process” are common clichés in training - and for good reason - they’re true… The trouble is that it often takes several years of incredibly consistent training to develop these skills.
•
At West Coast Barbell Club we want to help our clients develop this skill so they’re equipped for future success with or without a coach… “give them a fish, feed them for a day - teach them to fish, feed them for a lifetime”.
•
That said, having a quality coach and a personalised program to set you on your way is something we strongly advocate for - It’s an investment in your future success in strength and health.
•
If you want to learn more about what this looks like, and what our thought process is behind writing your training programs, please check out our most recent article on Progressive Loading on the READ page of our club site 👍

We’ve been fortunate to learn from the best at West Coast Barbell Club… and the whole team at Barbell Medicine being our most respected coaches within strength and conditioning.
•
Getting to know and spend time with their team during the course of our Barbell Medicine seminar last year was a real privilege and will remain a career highlight for

He’ll be forever grateful for the knowledge they passed on to our clients at WCBC 🙌

New article live on our “READ” page team… this one is well worth it - Following the advice here could add years of good health to your life expectancy 🙂👍

Strength training is for everyone, yet fewer than 25% of Australian’s do it… Many like Kaity here have previously been told they shouldn’t lift weights because they have a “bad back” 😣
•
Unfortunately this sort of “advice” which we call “disability by directive” can be really damaging, and it is so rewarding to see clients with a history of low back pain overcome the physical and psychological hurdles associated with it 🙌
•
Becoming stronger with appropriately dosed training is one of the best ways to protect ourselves from pain and injury… Big high five to Kaity for coming so far in our time working together 🙌
