Well… this week escalated quickly. 😅

The Lab has been looking a little less like an R&D facility and a little more like a dispatch centre this week. 😂

Rougez V1s have been heading out the door, but we’ve also seen plenty of 4realz and Plain Janez finding new tackle boxes along the way.

And probably the coolest part…
Around 90% of this week's orders are staying right here in WA. 🦑🌊

The support, messages, feedback and orders we've received lately have genuinely been something else.

Inked Jigz started as an idea to "match the hatch" of WA squid, This lead to a ridiculous amount of experimenting, plenty of failures and questionable sanity..... BUT a determination to build something a little different.

So seeing boxes piling up, jigs being packed and our handcrafted gear heading out to people who actually want to fish with something we've created in this little adventure…
Yeah. That's a pretty bloody amazing feeling. ❤️

Turns out making something look like a squid jig is the easiest part.
Making the behaviour exactly how we want underwater?
That took more swear words, flipped tables and questioning of life choices than were here to admit 🤫

Internal structure of the V2 was getting some attention here — chasing the right balance between resin, air and weight so the amount of fine tuning is reduced, all without touching the body profile we'd become rather fond of..

Before the Lab got completely out of hand.
Before we started questioning whether building squid jigs required this much engineering…

There was Rougez/Jekyl and Hydez V1. 🦑

The jigs that started this whole bloody adventure.

Handmade in WA. Built one at a time. Tested, abused, modified, sworn at and — most importantly — absolutely smashed by squid. 😎

But evolution waits for no jig.

Our Inked Jigz designed V2 has graduated with flying colours (as pictured above) and produced great results on the field testing days so... production is well underway. 😉 Which means we need room in the Lab.

So it's time to send all our remaining V1 hand made Jigz out with a bang. 💥

So at 8pm tomorrow night all V1 jigz

Perth weather has decided the new storage shed can wait another day… 🌧️🤣

So, back into the workshop we go.

Today’s mission:
A few equipment upgrades, some overdue kayak maintenance, and finally sorting out the underwater camera stabiliser.

Because did you know trying to watch underwater footage you've captured that's constantly going uuup and dowwwwn uuup and downnnnn can actually make you violently sea sick 🤢 🤷‍♂️

So today we're hoping to solve the sea sickness in Armadale problem and get some actually usable underwater footage of our Jigz doing exactly what they were designed to do…

Swimming. Sinking. Looking irresistible.

And hopefully getting absolutely SMASHED by Kraken squid. 🦑💥
