*The Difference Between a Sport and an Art*

A sport is something you play. An art is something you devote your life to studying.

Most people stop playing their sport after school. Some might play 5-a-side with friends, or compete until marriage, kids, or until their knees and back start hurting... and then they quit.

An art never ends. You keep learning even when your knees ache or your shoulder is stiff. The study doesn't stop.

In sport, the goal is to defeat your opponent or the other team. In martial arts, the goal is to defeat who you were yesterday.
