At Horizon Yoga, we are constantly evolving, realigning, and listening. Your feedback helps shape our community, and we love collaborating with incredible teachers who bring their unique gifts to our spaces.
As part of this ongoing journey, our beautiful Sophia has decided to step away from teaching for personal reasons. We are deeply grateful for her presence, wisdom, and the warmth she has shared with our community over the years. We wish her all the very best on her path ahead. ๐
We're also excited to welcome two wonderful new teachers to the Horizon family:
โจย Chloeย will be guiding our Saturday Yin & Yang class in Swanbourne, bringing her grounded presence and beautiful energy to the space.
โจย Estelleย joins us in Cottesloe, sharing her yogic wisdom through Saturday Vinyasa class.
And for those who love practising with Karina, you'll now find her on the mat everyย Friday at 6:00 AM. ๐
As always, Horizon Yoga is a community that grows together. We value your feedback, ideas, and experiences.

Meet Chloe - a new, beautiful addition to our Horizon Dream Team โจ๏ธ
Chloe offers an intentional space to step beyond the distractions of the mind and drop into a deeply grounded, embodied state. Moving with the seasons of life and inspired by the cycles of nature, her classes focus on the subtle body, weaving breath, movement, stillness, and mantra. Thoughtful and spacious, Chloeโs teaching invites an energy of devotion, allowing your practice to become a true offering to yourself and a means to deepen your connection with self.
You can flow with her on the mat every Saturday at 9:15 am in Swanbourne - Yin&Yang Yoga.
Let's give her a warm and loving welcome โฅ๏ธ

Letโs dive deeper into the meaning behind Ahimsa โ our monthly theme ๐ค
Ahimsa is one of the core teachings of yogic philosophy, first outlined in theย Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, a classical text that forms the foundation of the yogic path described byย Patanjali.
In this tradition, Ahimsa is the first of theย Yamasย โ the ethical principles of yoga, which sit at the very beginning of the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga Yoga). These limbs are not separate practices but a map of inner development โ moving from how we live in the world toward deeper states of awareness and presence.
Ahimsa means non-violence, but its meaning is far more subtle than simply โnot causing harm.โ
It invites us to notice the ways violence can appear internally โ in our thoughts, in our self-talk, in how we push, override, or abandon ourselves.
From this perspective, Ahimsa becomes a daily practice of awareness:
โข how we speak to ourselves when we feel like weโve failed
โข how we relate to discomfort in the body
โข how we respond when life feels overwhelming
โข how gently or harshly we meet our own experience
On the mat, Ahimsa is not about doing less or avoiding challenges.
It is about learning the difference between discipline and force. Between growth and self-punishment.
Traditionally, yoga does not begin with postures. It begins with how we choose to live and relate โ with Ahimsa as the foundation for all other practices to unfold safely and honestly.
How do you practice Ahimsa in your life?

Our May theme:AHIMSA โจ
How can you practice non-harming on and off the mat?
Ahimsaย is more than avoiding harm toward others โ itโs also about the relationship you have with yourself.
In a world that glorifies pushing, hustling and proving, Ahimsa invites us into a different way of being:
one rooted in compassion, awareness, and presence.
ON THE MAT ๐งโโ๏ธ
Ahimsa can look like:
Listening to your body instead of forcing a posture
Resting when your nervous system needs it
Breathing through judgment rather than criticising yourself
Honouring where you are today without comparison
Moving with awareness instead of performance
OFF THE MAT ๐ฟ
Ahimsa can look like:
Speaking to yourself with kindness
Setting boundaries that protect your energy
Slowing down before reacting emotionally
Nourishing your body with care
Choosing compassion over criticism
Recognising when your body needs rest, support, or softness
Sometimes the deepest practice of yoga is not touching your toes.
Itโs learning how to stop abandoning yourself.
The practice begins in the body โ but it ripples into every relationship, conversation, and choice we make.
How are you practising Ahimsa lately? โจ
