The only 2 exercises you need to master and progress on are the hanging leg raises, or knee raises if you can’t do them yet, and the cable and crunches. No a circuits, no sweat sessions, your abs need to be trained like every other muscle.

Most people don’t feel any tension in their lats when doing the lat pulldown, because most of the time they’re doing it completely wrong. You want to be bringing you elbows in towards your trunk to maximise the tension in your lats, not flaring your elbows and driving them behind you
