You don’t have a motivation problem.

You have a deciding problem.

Every morning you’re making the call again. Do I go, do I not, am I too tired, is it worth it, could I go tomorrow instead. Twenty decisions before your feet hit the floor.

The people who train consistently are not more motivated than you. They’ve stopped deciding. It’s Tuesday, so they go. That’s the entire system.

Motivation gets you through the door the first time. It has nothing to do with the ninetieth.

Book the session the night before. Take the decision off tomorrow’s plate.

The 5am crew have a rule nobody wrote down.

If you’re not there on a Tuesday, someone texts you. Not a guilt text. A “you alright?” text.

Nobody asked them to do that. It started with one person noticing an empty spot on the floor, and it kept going.

That’s the bit that isn’t on the price list. You can’t buy it with a membership and we can’t put it on a timetable.

You get it by turning up enough times that people learn your name, and then notice when it’s missing.

Come anyway. Someone’s saving you a spot.

Two sessions a week is not a compromise.

We meet people who think three or four is the entry point. That if they can’t manage that, there’s no point starting at all.

Here’s what we actually see.

The person who trains twice a week for two years is stronger, moves better and is still here. The person who does five a week for six weeks is not.

Frequency you can hold beats frequency you can imagine.

So pick the number you can do in a bad week, not a good one. Sick kid, late meeting, terrible sleep. What survives all that? Start there.

Week to week. No lock-in. Two is plenty.

I’ve said some things about Monday I’m not proud of.

That it’s too early. Too full. Too much. That it ruins a perfectly good Sunday night just by being on the way.

And every time I said “I’ll start again Monday”, I wasn’t waiting for Monday at all.

I was waiting to feel ready.

Ready never showed.

Monday did. Every week. No week to catch up on yet. Nothing gone wrong so far. Just a clean run at it and an honest look at what’s in front of me.

It never asked me to feel like it. It only ever asked me to show up.

The feeling comes later. Sometimes halfway through the session. Sometimes not at all.

Some days you won’t feel like it. Come anyway. That’s the whole point.

Save this for Sunday night, when the dread creeps in.

This is what a normal Tuesday looks like around here.

It got filmed properly, so it looks cinematic. Big, moody, impressive.

But there’s nothing special about the session itself. Same bars. Same hour. Same people who didn’t feel like coming and came anyway.

That’s the bit worth filming. Not the weights. The showing up.

Do that enough times and ordinary starts to look like this.

“I wish I started earlier.”

“I have never trained at a place like this.”

“You make it so easy just to show up.”

Just a few of the things that members say about training at AX.

Cam doesn’t get good weeks. He gets weeks.

A dad. A mining roster. A plan that folds more often than it holds.

So he makes what he can work. Some weeks that’s three sessions. Some weeks it’s one. He’s stopped judging the difference. That’s the whole reason it keeps working.

He trains for himself. The people around him get the best of it anyway.

If your weeks look like Cam’s, you’re not behind. Your life is just full.

Come anyway. 🧡

We just hit an all-time membership high. In a decade of business, this is the most people who have ever trusted us with their training.

That’s not a flex. That’s a responsibility.

If you can remember what it’s like to join a gym, you know it can be one of the most anxious things you do. Walking through a door not knowing anyone. Not knowing if you belong.

What’s made the difference is you. The people already in the room. The ones who make a new face feel like they’ve been here for months. The ones who say g’day before anyone has to ask.

To every new member, thank you for trusting us.

To everyone who’s been here a while and keeps bringing good people through the door, that doesn’t go unnoticed. You’re doing the work of making people feel safe and supported before we even get the chance to.

There’s nothing like feeling strong and capable. We get to help people find that every single day. I’m forever grateful for that.

Nicole is an allied health professional. She spends her days looking after other people’s health.

And for years, her own training looked the same. Go all in. Five days a week. Absolutely max it out. Then life gets in the way, the sessions start slipping, and the guilt kicks in. Before long, she’s done.

Sound familiar?

When she joined us, she made one small shift. Two sessions a week. That’s it.

Not five. Not four. Two.

She hasn’t missed a session in over a month. She’s getting stronger. She actually wants to show up. She’s built consistency for the first time in years, not by doing more, but by picking a number she could actually hit.

Even for someone whose job is health, the all-or-nothing trap is real.

So here’s the challenge. If you’re the kind of person who either goes hard or goes home, sit down and pick a number that’s lower than you think. Hit it for a month. Then upgrade. Start with two. If you nail it, try three.

Pick a number. Go get it. Then grow from there.
