GAME ON, GIRLS GRANTS ARE BACK! 🏐⚽️🏀

More funding to help keep young girls playing sport!

Following the success of the first round, we’re delivering another $1.1 million through our Game on, Girls program to help more teenage girls stay involved in community sport.

With girls’ participation in sport dropping significantly during their teenage years, we want to make sure more girls have the opportunity to stay active, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team.

Local sporting clubs across WA can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to deliver initiatives that attract and retain girls aged 13 to 17.

The first round supported 197 clubs across WA, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more clubs get involved!

🏐 The True Sport team was proud to attend the 2026 Netball WA Leadership Forum on Saturday, 17 October 2026.

We connected with more than 100 netball leaders, volunteers and administrators from across metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia, sharing information, education and resources available through True Sport and Best On Road.

From safeguarding and integrity to mental health and wellbeing, respectful relationships, dispute resolution and road safety, it was fantastic to engage directly with representatives from metropolitan, regional and remote associations and discuss practical ways to support safer, stronger and more inclusive sporting communities.

Thank you to Netball WA for the opportunity to be involved and to everyone who stopped by our activation throughout the day.

Every athlete's journey starts somewhere, and every journey is stronger with support.

This week, we were proud to join Olympic gold medallist Natalie Cook OAM OLY at the Great Aussie Athlete BBQ, raising awareness for the Aussie Athlete Fund and its mission to back Australian athletes one at a time on the road to Brisbane 2032.

Together, we can help create more opportunities for the next generation of Australian sporting champions.

What an incredible day at the 2026 WA Sport Industry Conference.

Together, we explored this year's theme, Beyond Sport: Where health, community and economy connect, hearing from an outstanding lineup of speakers who challenged our thinking, shared new perspectives and reinforced the vital role sport plays in shaping healthier, stronger and more prosperous communities.

One message that resonated throughout the day came from Natalie Cook OAM OLY:

"It all starts with one dream."

Whether that dream is to participate, lead, innovate, connect communities or create lasting change, sport has the power to turn possibility into reality.

A huge thank you to our speakers, panellists, moderators, exhibitors and attendees for contributing to such an engaging, thought-provoking and inspiring day.

We are also proud acknowledge our partnership with WA Government, through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for its ongoing support of the Western Australian sport sector and of the 2026 WA Sport Industry Conference. We also thank the of Energy and Economic Diversification and Invest and Trade Western Australia for their valued partnership in supporting this year's conference.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us and brought such energy, curiosity and passion to the conversations. The conference may be over, but the ideas, connections and momentum created throughout the day will continue to shape the future of sport and recreation in Western Australia.

Delivered by SportWest in partnership with the State Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport of and Lotterywest, this fully funded program supports women working and volunteering in sport to develop leadership capability, gain one-on-one mentoring and build meaningful connections across the sector.

This morning, the Women of Sport community came together to hear from Nat Cook OAM OLY and Kerry Turner as they explored The Courage to Lead and the reality that creating meaningful change takes courage, persistence and determination.

Nat and Kerry lit up the room with their energy, authenticity and unwavering belief in the power of sport to create change. Their stories sparked laughter, reflection and inspiration in equal measure.

Throughout the conversation, several powerful leadership lessons emerged.

Pitch the win-win: Kerry reminded us that bringing others with you starts by helping them see the benefits of change.

Resilience isn't about enduring. It's about adapting: Reset. Rethink. Adjust. When things don't go to plan, learn from it and keep moving forward.

Creating change starts with backing yourself: Have a clear vision, be brave enough to share it, and don't wait to write your story. Start now. Be creative in how you communicate your ideas and persistent in bringing others along with you.

Be relentless: Both Nat and Kerry spoke passionately about staying in the fight. Change is rarely easy, but progress belongs to those who keep showing up.

Above all, the morning reminded us that we are all leaders.

Leadership is not limited to job titles or positions of authority. We can lead from the front, shepherd from behind, or influence from the centre. We don't need to be the loudest voice in the room. Sometimes leadership is found in asking a thoughtful question, creating an opportunity for someone else, or knowing when to listen.

A sincere thank you to Nat Cook OAM OLY and Kerry Turner for their generosity in sharing the lessons, challenges and opportunities that have shaped their careers, and to Jo Davies for facilitating a thoughtful and engaging discussion.

We are also grateful for the ongoing support of our Women of Sport Leadership Program partners, the WA Government and Lotterywest.
