I believe most golfers don’t get as much as they could out of their practice sessions.

Hitting balls without intention doesn’t build a better swing - it just grooves what you already do.

Between each shot, slow everything down and rehearse the feels your working on.

For me here, it’s where my hips, chest, and arms need to be at impact.

✅ Exaggerate the feel - this gives your body a clear reference point to work from, not just a vague sense of “better”

✅ Pause before each shot - this breaks the rake-and-hit habit and keeps your brain engaged in every rep

✅ Own the position before you swing - this turns rehearsal into muscle memory rather than guesswork

One deliberate shot is worth ten mindless ones.

Come play a hole with me.

This was only my second nine holes since coming back from double hip surgery 6 months ago, and it felt great to be out there pain free. ⛳

Short par 4, dogleg left on the 3rd at The Western Australian Golf Club . Driving iron off the tee into the wind to the corner, then a smooth 8 iron in.

You’ll notice the alignment rod on the ground for my full shots. After so long out of the game, aiming felt really off and difficult, so having it there on a few holes helps me avoid slipping into bad habits.

I often see amateurs with poor alignment, and their swing then adapts to it, which can hurt them in the long run. If you’re playing a few holes on your own or with mates, put a rod down and check in on where you’re actually aiming.

As a busy coach and dad, time for my own golf is limited. But this is why I got into the game as a 13 year old. Being out in nature is like a meditation to me, and nothing beats the feeling of a well struck iron.
