Bricklayers work with clay bricks and concrete masonry products to construct everything from residential homes to large commercial projects. Their work requires precision, practicality and the ability to interpret plans and specifications to create both structural and decorative brickwork.

The WorldSkills Australia Bricklaying and VETiS Bricklaying Competitions will test competitors' ability to follow drawings, work accurately and demonstrate the skills required to complete high-quality brick and blockwork projects.

Wall and Floor Tilers work across residential and commercial construction projects, laying ceramic, porcelain, mosaic and natural stone tiles. From bathrooms and laundries to patios, balconies and swimming pools, their work requires precision, attention to detail and expert craftsmanship.

The WorldSkills Australia Wall & Floor Tiling and VETiS Wall & Floor Tiling Competitions test competitors' construction knowledge, technical ability and specialist tiling skills, with a focus on accuracy, alignment and quality workmanship.

Creativity meets craftsmanship in today's featured competition – Floristry 🌸

Florists combine creativity and technical skill to design beautiful floral arrangements, bouquets, displays and installations for a variety of occasions.

The WorldSkills Australia Floristry Competition will see competitors create floral pieces to set briefs while demonstrating their design skills, knowledge of horticultural materials and understanding of key floristry techniques.

Today's WorldSkills spotlight is VETiS Electrotechnology ⚡

Electrotechnology covers a wide range of industries, including electrical, electronic, instrumentation and communication technologies. From power and lighting systems to networking, automation and fibre optics, it's a trade at the forefront of innovation.

The VETiS Electrotechnology Competition tests competitors' skills and knowledge in workplace health and safety, maintenance, installation and repair.

Today's featured competition is Heavy Vehicle Mechanics 🚛

Heavy Vehicle Mechanics maintain and repair trucks, buses, agricultural machinery and earthmoving equipment, helping keep essential industries moving.

The WorldSkills competition will challenge competitors' skills in diagnosing faults and repairing vehicle and machine systems used across the heavy transport and mobile equipment industries.

This month, we celebrate the achievements of our WA Skillaroos, who delivered outstanding results at the Global Skills Challenge held in Wollongong last month. We also take a closer look at the South West region, where competitors showcased their talents in a series of incredible competitions.
