Brian Mackie's Karate Osborne Park

Sadly, with the end of lease and another tenant prepared to pay a great deal more rent and renovate the function rooms I have been asked to vacate the premises by the end of April.
Fortunately Basil Shihan in opening his Osborne Park dojo has provided the opportunity for a seamless transfer. Our regular City West sessions will still be conducted on Tuesday and Thursday at 12 noon and 6.30pm.
The last Squad training at City West will be on Saturday 12th April and continue at Osborne Park after the Easter weekend on the 26th April in preparation for the Goju-Open on the 18th May.
The City West juniors will now be joining Basil Shihan's junior sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings. With greater class numbers it will prove beneficial.
It is hoped that the last senior grading to be held at City West will be well attended with the presentation of the 6th Dan certificates from the hombu dojo.

Saturday Squad Training

Great trip to Japan but all too short. Memorable meeting with Saiko Shihan and his wife Ritsuko. Enjoyed dinner with them that evening and the following day we visited Nikko and the Toshogu Shrine and a strawberry farm. The next day Saiko Shihan was kind enough to drive us to Haneda Airport. After our dinner Brenda and Keiji were at our hotel where we had a few drinks to celebrate Keiji's birthday. Tried to convince Brendan to come back to Perth and again open a successful branch dojo. Fingers crossed.
Another highlight was our visit to Ricky Kaminski in Fukui. A beautiful city graced with wonderful cherry blossoms in full bloom. Visiting Ricky's university's karate club I was impressed with the discipline and the commitment. More skills to introduce to our squad training sessions. Thanks Ricky and to Nami for all your hospitality. Looking forward to seeing you again if not before then at the Goju-Kai Global Championships in Chiba 2025.
Disappointed that Nebashi Sensei was sick and unable to meet us in Nagano. The visit to the 'snow monkeys" was a killer effort on my part with the new knees and hips feeling every step. In the end it was worth it but I am glad there was no snow to contend with.

Congratulations Daniel Sensei. Very happy to present you the Yondan certificate from the hombu dojo in Japan. It was an exceptional evening with Andrew Bennet achieved his Yondan, Mark Smith, Joshua Pethick and David Henrisson all achieved their Sandan, Dylan Korczynskyj his Nidan and Vince Iozzi his Shodan Ho. Excellent work making Basil Gotsis Shihan and I proud of your efforts.
