🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC WEEK AT THE ROOS ❤️💛🖤

Along with celebrating our sponsors this
weekend, the Wanneroo Football Club was also proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week, recognising and honouring the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Before our League game, we were privileged to hold a traditional Smoking Ceremony, bringing our players, members and supporters together in a moment of reflection, respect and unity as we acknowledged the world’s oldest continuing culture.

One of the most special moments of the week came before the first bounce on Thursday, when our own Mailey proudly presented Josh and Jayden with custom boots featuring stunning Aboriginal artwork. As an Indigenous member of our club, it was a meaningful moment for Mailey to share his culture and present the boots, which represent identity, connection and pride.

We thank Mailey for helping make the day so memorable and for sharing such an important part of his culture with our football community.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to learn, reflect and celebrate, and we are proud to be a club that embraces inclusion, respects culture and continues to build a welcoming community for everyone.

What a fantastic day at the Roo Train as we celebrated our annual Sponsors Day!

On behalf of everyone at the Wanneroo Football Club, we want to extend a huge thank you to every one of our sponsors for your continued support throughout the season. ROUND 14 ROO-SULTS 🦘

What a weekend for the Roo Train, finishing Round 14 with an impressive 5 wins from 7 games! 💪🖤🤍

The headline performances came from our League, Reserves, Colts and Thirds, who all produced dominant victories across the weekend. The League continued their outstanding form with a commanding 107-point win over Jandakot, while the Reserves were unstoppable, piling on 171 points in a 162-point demolition. The Colts were in control from the opening bounce, recording a convincing 75-point victory, while the Thirds continued their incredible season with another impressive 66-point win over Kingsway.

Our Integrated side rounded out the winners with a terrific 12-point victory over Mandurah, showing plenty of determination to get the job done. The Women’s side fought hard against Gosnells but couldn’t quite bridge the gap, while the 2nd Colts went down by just 6 points in one of the closest contests of the weekend. The Fourths enjoyed a well-earned bye.

ROUND 14 – ROO RUN-DOWN 🦘🖤💛❤️

Round 14 is shaping up to be one of the biggest days of the season as the Roo Train returns home for a huge afternoon of football, while also proudly celebrating our annual Sponsors Day and NAIDOC Round.

Our senior men host Jandakot at Wanneroo Showgrounds in an important clash, while the Thirds and Integrated side also enjoy home ground advantage. Before our League game, we invite all members, supporters and sponsors to join us for a Smoking Ceremony, recognising and celebrating the rich culture, history and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Elsewhere, our Women’s side travels to Gosnells, while the 2nd Colts head to Scarborough in another action-packed weekend for the black and white.
