Your Sunday reminder: You are not stuck. You might just need a new strategy.

Feeling frustrated because you're applying for jobs and hearing nothing back?

Before you send another 20 applications this week, stop and ask yourself:
- Is my resume tailored to the jobs I'm applying for?
- Am I highlighting my achievements, not just listing duties?
- Does my LinkedIn profile reflect the opportunities I want?
- Am I applying for roles that genuinely match my skills?
- Am I using networking as well as online applications?

Sometimes, the answer isn't to apply for more jobs. It's about changing how you apply.

You don't need to do everything differently. You need to identify what's not working and make a smarter plan.

With so many employers and managers saying they don't have the time to offer people work experience.... No wonder why there is so many skill shortages!

But as a society how can we over come this? Does your company take on volunteers or work experience?

YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW
WHAT SOMEONE IS CARRYING.

This R U OK? Day, I want to share something personal.

I grew up in a home affected by domestic violence.
I experienced homelessness.
And I have faced my own battles with mental health while living with ongoing pain and illness.
I consistently went into work feeling sick from the workplace bullying.

Yet today, I am here as a Career Coach, Employment Consultant and Resume Writer, helping others navigate some of the biggest challenges in their careers and lives.

My journey has taught me something I will never forget:

A person can look like they have it all together and still be struggling behind closed doors.

So today, don't just ask “R U OK?"
Take the time to genuinely listen.

You don't need to have the answers.
You don't need to fix someone.

Sometimes, simply saying I'm here” can mean more than you realise.

Check in. Listen. Don't judge.

I had members of the public constantly messaging me, asking how to apply for a job here...So I spoke to hiring managers & the recruitment team, they even put my name down, so I could be one of the first people in the know.🤣

🚨 IT’S 2026… WHY ARE WE STILL PUTTING PHOTOS ON RESUMES? 🚨

Nearly every resume I have reviewed and seen this week has a picture 🤦‍♀️

So, Let’s talk about it! 👀

I still see SO many resumes with a professional photo sitting right at the top.

But here’s the thing…

📸 Your resume is not a dating profile.

In most cases, your photo adds nothing to your ability to do the job — and it can create unconscious bias in the recruitment process.

Your resume should be selling:

✅ Your skills
✅ Your experience
✅ Your achievements
✅ Your qualifications
✅ What you can bring to the role

NOT what you look like.

And in 2026, with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and increasingly competitive recruitment processes, every inch of your resume needs to earn its place.

💡 My advice?
Unless a photo is specifically requested (RED FLAG) or genuinely relevant to the industry/role, leave it off.

Use that valuable space to show employers why they should interview YOU.
