Hi, I’m Josh.
I thought I’d introduce myself and explain why I coach the way I do.
When I first started training, I was like a lot of people. I thought the goal was to get as big and as strong as possible. If I became stiff, lost mobility, or didn’t move well anymore, I just assumed that was part of getting stronger.
Over time, that mindset caught up with me.
I dealt with back pain, knee injuries, and the frustration of constantly feeling restricted. I was getting stronger in the gym, but I wasn’t becoming a more capable person outside of it.
Everything changed when I joined the Australian Army and spent two years serving as a Rifleman.
In the Army, strength wasn’t enough. You had to be strong, but you also had to move efficiently, stay mobile, carry heavy loads, and perform under pressure. If your body couldn’t move well, it didn’t matter how much you could lift.
That completely changed the way I viewed training.
I realised that strength and movement aren’t opposing goals—they’re meant to work together. The strongest body is one that can move well, stay resilient, and perform in everyday life.
That’s the philosophy behind my coaching today.
Whether you’re dealing with tightness from a desk job, recovering from an injury, wanting to stay active as you get older, or simply looking to build strength without feeling broken, my goal is to help you move with confidence and build strength that lasts.
I still coach people whose goals are building muscle, losing body fat, or improving overall fitness—but I believe those results come far easier when your body moves the way it’s designed to.
If that sounds like the kind of coaching you’re after, I’d love to help.
