A beginner netball program for your teens!

📣 Do you have a 10-14 year old who is wanting to give netball a go, but they have little to no prior experience with the sport, or club level competition?

It can be a daunting process starting a new sport after the “typical” starting age — trust us, we get it! Jumping into an environment where your teammates have years of experience under their belt, but you are still familiarising yourself with the basic rules of the game. This scenario pops up more often than you may think, but no one should ever feel hesitant to give a new sport a go as a result of starting later than the average age!

Pooraka Allstars Netball Club’s highly successful self-founded & funded Little Allstars Program (targeted at beginners aged 5-8) has been a massive success since it’s introduction to the club in 2025, and we constantly get asked if we offer something similar for slightly older kiddos — tweens if you will! Our Train Like an Allstar Program was created in early 2026 and introduced as an additional step to our pathway structure🤩

Train Like An Allstar is a 14-week program for beginner club netballers where they will learn all the rules, terminology & key skills of netball for their dedicated age group in a training environment (ie. no weekly games) whilst players are surrounded by teammates who find themselves in the same situation — wanting to give netball a go, but want to know all the rules or familiarise themselves with the club netball environment before jumping out on an official competition court!

Our program is set to start immediately (Wednesday, October 21) and will run alongside Summer Season 2026/27, with the aim to prepare our next generation of Allstars with all the necessary skills & assets ready for Winter Season 2027 (to commence April 2027)!🤗

If you have a teen who is hassling you to play netball and you haven't been quite sure where to start, or you would like some more in depth information/program details, please don’t hesitate to contact Pooraka Netball Club at [email protected], or by sending us a DM! We’d absolutely love to have a chat and welcome some new faces to the Pooraka family❤️💙

OH WE ARE SOOOO BACK!! We hope you are ready for Summer Season 2026/27 Allstars, because we certainly are🤩💃🏼 We've seen just how eager you all were to get back out on court with pre-season commencing this past week, which makes us extra excited for the season ahead!

By now, all of our Summer Season 2026/27 parents, players, coaches & officials would have been added into group chats🌟 If you are a first time Allstar and haven’t come across your team group chat yet, be sure to check your requests folder as it may be hiding away in there!

We are absolutely ecstatic to announce the Pooraka family has expanded (yesss, again!) over the transition from winter to summer and we are so grateful to be introducing a further 3-expansion teams for the upcoming competition season🤗 All thanks to you guys and the amazing atmosphere you’ve helped create, and the kind words you share around about the club!

In Summer Season 2026/27 Pooraka Netball Club will field a total of 20-teams competing under the lights at Golden Grove from now until March 2027, our 2 x Under 12s sides at Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre will see out the remainder of their Term 2 season through to early December, with our Little Allstars & Train Like an Allstar Program also making a strong return - seeing Pooraka Allstars be home to 200+ athletes and their amazing families this summer!

We do still have a couple of vacancies dotted around the club, specifically for circle defenders (GK/GD) at Senior B3, Junior 4/5 & Inter 3 level! A recruitment flyer has been shared within various netball and local community notice groups across Facebook, so please feel free to share this around if you stumble across it.

We have an amazing feeling about Summer Season 2026/27, and are incredibly excited to have you all along for the ride! Consider Summer Season 2026/27 = LAUNCHED❤️💙
