It’s G A M E D A Y and it’s time to send our girls off the the big leagues, Bearcats! 🥹🥹

Come along to Port tonight to celebrate the incredible journey of both Sienna Lehmann and Coco Hodges as they take on the Hitachi Cougars in their new colours - as part of the Adelaide Lightning ⚡️⚡️

It’s a special opportunity to play one of your very first professional games at your home stadium and you can help us make it that little bit more special. Wear your red and black and let’s fill the stadium with support as these two Bearcats get their final taste of home for the next few months.

No one does it better than us - don’t miss your opportunity to show the Lightning and the Cougars just what Bearcat basketball is all about.

Brad Dalton left a lasting mark on West Adelaide after moving from Sydney in the late seventies, quickly establishing himself as one of the premier big men in Australian basketball. From 1980 to 1982 he was part of three consecutive State League Championship teams, and across the 1981 and 1982 NBL seasons he played 47 games for the Bearcats, starting at centre in the club’s historic 1982 NBL Championship. His performances earned national selection, representing the Boomers at the 1982 World Championship, two Olympic Games in 1984 and 1988, and the 1986 World Championships. He later continued his distinguished career with the Sydney Supersonics, Geelong Cats and Sydney Kings, cementing his reputation as one of Australia’s leading centres.

Brad’s achievements have been recognised at the highest levels, including induction into the Basketball NSW Hall of Fame and the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. But before all of those accolades, there was West Adelaide. Brad was part of the generation that put the Bearcats on the national basketball map and played an integral role in delivering the club’s greatest triumph - the 1982 NBL Championship. We honour Brad Dalton not only for the remarkable career that followed, but for the vital part he played in the history of our great club.

Dora Mudge remains one of the most cherished figures in West Adelaide’s history - a lifelong supporter whose generosity and devotion shaped the Bearcats community. Living opposite Bowden Stadium, she became a constant presence: working the canteen, assisting with miniball, welcoming families, and supporting generations of players. Her commitment extended well beyond game nights, travelling with National League teams throughout the 1980s and championing the women’s program. The women’s MVP was once named in her honour, before the most promising junior female award carried her name.

Affectionately known as “Mrs Chocolate Fudge”, Dora was made a Life Member in 1981 and spent her later years on Court 1 with her blanket and cushion, cheering from 6pm to 10pm. She even led the petition to save Bowden Stadium, reflecting her fierce loyalty to the club. Her photo above the canteen stands as a reminder of her humour, heart and impact.

It’s time to say goodbye to one of the longest serving pieces of our NBL1 program. Keeley ‘gadget’ Pearce has called time on her 13 year NBL1 career spanning more than 160 NBL1 games.

Keeley grew up at the Bearcats and helped created lasting legacies of success at every level of the program. Both her and her family have impacted the Bearcats in a number of ways, and seeing West Adelaide continue to move forward without her impact will be bittersweet.

Keeley has captured the hearts of all of her coaches and peers with her infectious and bubbly demeanour, her genuine selflessness and her incredible knack to hit the ball from deep and take away passes no one thought possible.

A fantastic athlete. A fantastic human. Someone we are so proud to forever call a Bearcat.
