Second of the Athletics SA launch meets took place today at SAAS.
We had 8 runners in the 800m. They were all given target times to hit at 200m and 400m as we try to establish pacing tactics to maximise performance.
Juve, despite being unhappy with his race, ran his second fastest 800m in 1:57.76. The coach was satisfied with that race.
Andre ran a solid race and hit the first lap targets, he will continue to focus on 400m as his favoured event.
Beth went out a bit too hard and paid the price in the final 100m, a tweak to that and she can go faster next week.
Aneske maintained form when others faltered in the last 25 meters, she picked off numerous runners and was happy with her finish. Can attack harder next race and get that PB down.
All 4 of these high school athletes will be in Action at Athletics SA All Schools Championships next weekend.
We had four under 14 runners in action today.
Harrison making his PAAC debut is working on tactics and pacing ahead of primary school nationals. He didn't get it perfect but tried to follow the plan, and will continue to develop.
Three girls in heat 3 of the 800m and they all ran PB's.
Narla had me worried as she was way under target pace in the first lap but she backed it up with a strong second lap and took 7 seconds off her 800m PB from September.
Caitlyn was also in the mood to run fast and took 5 seconds off her best from last season. I know she will get faster when she masters the pacing.
Maddy, also making her ASA debut, had targeted a sub 3:00 run, she was brave but a bit too fast in the first 200m. Her determination showed in the homestrait and she finished in 3:00.53, a PB.
Josh is a future decathlete, who has multiple coaches to go with the multiple events he does, he had a run in the 200m hurdles and 200m as he prepares for All Schools.
Rachel is our lone athlete running SAAL Flinders tomorrow.
Big weekend coming up for the high school athletes battling to finish top 2 and get a spot on the state team for National All Schools Championships in Perth.
