🌟 Muddies Family, What a Day!🌟

🎉 The weather was absolutely perfect for our first Come and Try Day! We had an amazing turnout of kids ready to dive into fun activities and learn new skills. From cricket drills to engaging games, the excitement was contagious! 🏏

To top it all off, we wrapped up with a thrilling game of cricket that included parents and caregivers. Nothing beats that sense of community and teamwork! 🦀

🏏🦀 4ths captain summary

I lost the toss and Mulgrave decided to bat first. We got off to a slow start in windy conditions until Bryson Collins 1/28(6) eventually made the break though. With some solid fielding from Steve Doble at point and late wickets from Andy Freeman 1/29(4)and Scotty Collins 2/37(7), a solid proformance with the Gloves from Blair Zahnow and safe hands from Jessie Morris Mulgrave finished with 4/228. With a strong start from the opening Pairing Steve Doble and Kevin Skinner, it wasn't until the two Andy's, Frenwick 17(30) and Freeman 15(25) came to the crese that we had a some small hope. The tail tried the help but in the end mulgrave was to strong.

🏏 3rds Captain’s Summary

We lost the toss and Rovers chose to bowl first, giving us the challenge of batting on a very wet pitch that played extremely slow throughout the day. With only 8 players available, it was always going to be a tough ask, but the boys showed plenty of fight and determination from the outset.

Batting was never easy in the conditions, with the slow surface making it difficult to score freely. Despite that, we battled hard to post 6/101 from our 35 overs. Buckets, Lochie and Andy all batted really well, putting together valuable contributions and making sure we had a total to defend. With every run hard-earned, getting to 101 was a credit to the application and determination of the group.

When we took the field, the message was simple — keep the pressure on, take wickets and make Rovers earn every run. The boys delivered. We picked up wickets consistently and kept Rovers under pressure throughout the innings, refusing to let them simply chase the total down comfortably.

Anderson was outstanding with the ball, attacking the batsmen and producing a really strong spell, while Andy Freeman also played an important role in keeping the pressure on. With wickets continuing to fall, we gave ourselves a genuine chance of pulling off something special despite being significantly short on numbers.

Lochie was fantastic with the gloves, doing a great job behind the stumps and contributing to a strong overall fielding effort.

Rovers eventually managed to get past our total, but we made them work incredibly hard for it. To have them 7 wickets down after they passed our score was a fantastic effort, and it was ultimately their experience in the later stages that got them over the line.

Considering we only had 8 players, were playing on a very wet and slow pitch, and were up against an experienced Rovers side, the fight shown by everyone was outstanding.

We may not have got the result, but the effort, character and determination from the Muddies was something to be proud of. Plenty of positives to take forward. 💙🏏

🏏🦀 Exciting Captaincy Announcement for the Muddies 1st XI! (3rd grade) 🦀🏏

Get ready for some thrilling cricket action, Muddies fans and players! We are beyond excited to announce that Cam Williams will be stepping up as the new captain of our 1st XI! 🎉

Cam comes with a fantastic resume, including roles as assistant coach at Gembrook and Lang Lang, and coaching stints at Scoresby and Emerald Cricket Club. His crowning achievement? Leading Emerald to a glorious 1st XI premiership! 🏆

But that’s not all, Cam has captained multiple 1st elevens at various clubs, so he knows a thing or two about leading from the front!

This season, he’s got his sights set on making our team as competitive as possible across both grades.
The ultimate goal? Bringing home the finals!🏏✨

We can’t wait to see Cam in action, guiding our players and helping everyone grow their skills. Let’s rally behind him and make this season one for the history books!
