Paul Fraser has won the 2026 Minor Singles. He beat John Walder in a game of two halves. John owned the short ends in the first half, until he bowled a too short end. Paul then took control with long ends and finally came out the winner. Great work everyone. Thanks to Paul Dymock for marking.

Glenn Hayes 'Claude' has finally passed the 50yr service mark to Westport Men's Bowling Club. Last week President Paul Fraser presented Claude with a Memorial plaque, something to remember the date.

Major Minors –After a false start on a very hot Wednesday afternoon, the Major Minor Pairs was completed last Friday morning. Neither day seemed to suit Noel or John, and after a grim start on Wednesday, things didn’t get any better on Friday morning. Glenn Hayes & Paul Fraser walked away with the title 21 to 8 beating Noel Cobcroft and John Tracey by the length of the straight. Paul has finally got the 2025 Trophy that he has been looking for.

2025 Mixed Pairs the final was played last Saturday. Marlene Van Den Bosch and Ian Kelly battled it out with Kelvin Fetingis and Kaye Newberry. It was a bit up and down. The weather wasn’t too bad in the morning, so the crowd was prepared for some good bowls and the players delivered. Marlene and Ian came out early to create a good lead, however, when Kay got her weight and grass the tide turned. In the end, Kelvin and Kay came out winners 16 to 14. l to r Ian, Marlene, Kaye, Kelvin

2025 Westport Men's Major Pairs Champions for 2025 are Gordon Bray and Kelvin Fetingis. On a windy Saturday afternoon, they claimed the title from Paul Fraser and Ron Crowe. Gordon has now won in 2025 the Minor Pairs, Club 4's and Major Pairs, all with different skips. Horses for Courses as they say.

Glenn "Claude" Hayes is now the 2025 Men's Major Singles Champion at Westport Men's Bowling Club when he beat Bill Webber 25 to 13. Glenn Hayes came out of the blocks hot to trot and moved to 6 nil until Billy clawed back to have him down 11 to 6. From then on, it was all Claude, who won 12 of the next 14 ends to finish the competition comfortably.
