How does Pilates help you be a better Martial Artist? Hereās just three ways! āŗļøāØ

So after a very long hiatus Iām back! The past 1.5 years has gone by in a blur. First Covid happened, then I moved from Port Macquarie to Newcastle NSW and opened up my first full time Martial Arts school! - Kumiai Ryu Newcastle
It has been a challenging but super rewarding experience and Iām so glad I took the leap and did it. As Iāve been focusing on running my full time Martial Arts business my Pilates teaching took a backseat for a little bit which is ok, but Iād love to get back into it!
In this time Iāve still been regularly practicing Pilates at home as well as at a reformer studio which has helped me further improve my skills and get even stronger.
As many of us are still in lockdown Iāll be trialling a Zoom mat Pilates class this Saturday 11/09/2021 at 10am for 45mins, itās $9 and you can book here https://oasis-pilates.square.site/ š
Movement is so crucial to our mental health, especially when in lockdown (as Iāve experienced). If you normally practice a different type of movement give Pilates a try! Itāll be fun, exciting and rewarding too.

āØS C I S S O R S
The 5th and final exercise in the Ab 5 series is the leg scissors. A challenging move, especially if you've just completed the other 4 exercises of the series!
šLengthen both legs out straight, one towards the ceiling and the other parallel to the ground. Keeping a neutral spine lift your head and shoulders off the floor, sliding your ribs to your hips.
šKeeping your chin tucked in and shoulders relaxed, reach your hands on either your hamstring or calf (not behind the knee) of the leg closest to you, aim to use a soft touch on your leg and use your leg muscles to control the movement.
šReach pointed toes away as you gently pulse your leg twice towards you and then switch to the other side keeping your tummy scooped in. Don't forget to breathe!
šFor a challenge, try interlacing your fingers behind your head so you must control the movement with your legs and abdominals, rather than pulling with your hands.š

Third part of the ab 5 series is the criss cross.
š»Draw abs towards the mat while keeping a neutral spine.
š»Rotate through your upper spine, moving your shoulder to opposite hip.
š»Keep your head relaxed in your hands and reach your leg long while the other moves in a straight line.
