Karate is a great activity for kids with autism. It helps their coordination, strength, and body awareness — just as it does for everyone! It’s no secret that a traditional martial arts program is one of the best extracurricular activities a child can participate in. For children with special needs the benefits are invaluable because of the inherit structure and discipline the arts bring to a child’s daily life. All children need structure, some more than others. Some might need to be reminded more often or a different approach might be necessary, but in the end it's all the same.

Sensei Melinda gained invaluable experience teaching kids with various physical and mental challenges like ADHD, vision impairment, autism (to name a few).

A Fitness Today News Network presents the AFT International Sports & Fitness Festival which culminates this 4 & 5 November 2023 in Panthers Port Macquarie to celebrate diversity, equity & inclusion in sport & fitness!

This inaugural festival celebrates, empowers and fosters inclusivity, ensuring Australians of culturally and linguistically diverse communities as well as Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander peoples gain access and are included in sports and fitness activities throughout the nation.

The goal is to make health and fitness accessible and equitable to everyone, leaving no one behind.

👊SHINKYOKUSHIN KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS👊

This year and last year our team competed at the State and National Shinkyokushin Karate Championships. Our students competed in Full Contact Fight, Individual Kata and Team Kata.

Watching these kids compete warms our hearts. As using Sally Grech words, our students are the most amazing and inspirational team. "The courage, strength, resilience and persistence they demonstrated throughout the tournaments was a privilege to see. The way they support and encourage each other is truly beautiful. We are so proud of each and every one of them for just stepping onto those mats.

The trophies are not important.
Everything else they learnt and took away from these tournaments is way more valuable!"

👊SHINKYOKUSHIN NATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS👊

Yesterday our team competed in the National Shinkyokushin Karate Championships. Our students competed in Full Contact Fight, Individual Kata and Team Kata. It was super tough and competitive! We have to fight against as always the Artamon - Japanese dojo.

Watching these kids compete first time at this level is incredible. As using Sally Grech words, our students are the most amazing and inspirational team.
