City of Melbourne titles
Belated post
This was our biggest race meeting so far with the event having over 438 entries.
Ollie had a great time racing against some of the fastest kids in Australia learning so much from the experience.
A weekend of mixed results.
Setting some good pace in timed practice but getting caught up in a few bingles on track left Ollie working his way through the huge 65 cadet 12 class with not quite enough points to make it to the final.
At such a young age we are so proud of him going into each race with confidence and not giving up until the very end.
We had a great week away with our Vic/TAS mates.

Saturday
With the weather absolutely chucking it down with wind and freezing conditions. Ollie qualified 3rd
Heat 1&2 we struggled with some kart and set up issues finishing both heats in 5th, but after a late night fixing them we were ready for Sunday.
Sunday
Heat 3 Was looking much better and after a good start Ollie made his way up to 3rd before ending up in 2nd due to a penalty on another kart.
Ollie started The final in 3rd position and after a great start moved straight into 2nd.
After a few laps he dropped back to 3rd once again where he crossed the line.
Sitting 4th in points due to a few drop downs and dnfs throughout the series out main focus for the weekend was to finished all races.
Ollie drive his heart out and with a wrist injury we are super proud of his commitment and effort.
After the final Ollie finished the series in 4th place narrowly missing 3rd by only 33points to Elenah Rankin Karting congratulations.

GKCV club day
This weekend we headed to Melbourne for Ollie to test his skills on a mainland track for first time as a C12
Having only been to Todd road once, Ollie was keen for some practice.
Saturday practice things were looking good with Ollie getting more and more confident as the day went on.
Sunday race day
Ollie went out the gate strong and qualified 7th out of 18 karts.
Heat 1 a spark plug issue caused the kart to lose power off the start and Ollie was swamped. He quickly dropped back to 16th but made his way back to 9th over the race but a small mistake on the last lap ended up finishing the race in 11th
Heat 2
Starting out of p7 again. A bad start saw him drop back but kept pushing and worked his way back to finish in 12th
Heat 3
Starting out of p12 Ollie got a good start then narrowly avoided an incident on turn 1. Pushing forward he finished in P7
Final
Starting out of p7 with a great start Ollie moved up to 6th, before dropping back to 8th and holding on for the last lap where he was passed at the last minute to finish the day in 9th place.
Team Garwood are super proud of His efforts all day and not giving in until the end. It still amazes us what this 8 year old kid can do.
It was so great racing with our mates Team kalbfell #40 and Wil Cairns Racing Congratulations to Will on the win in cadet 9

KA3 Cup & Bec Wyatt memorial
P1 Winner ššš
After a very cold windy Saturday of practice Ollie was looking solid on the track and feeling confident for Sundayās race.
Overnight rain saturated the track and it was declared wet in the morning.
Heat 1
starting out of P7 due to random grid draw Ollie pushed forward but struggled with gearing and the wet conditions.
Finishing in p5
Heat 2
The track had dried and all the cadets were on slicks.
Ollie started out of p1 and with a good gap finished in p1.
Heat 3
Combined points from both heats saw Ollie starting out of p2
After a good battle within the top 3 karts finished in p3
Final
Ollie started out of P3 and quickly moved his way up to p2. Not long after he dropped back to 3rd and a small mistake saw him lose a bit of space from the front 2 karts. He drove hard and managed to close the gap, coming right up on 1st and 2nd once again.
On the final lap the front two karts made contact and Ollie just missed the incident moving into 1st place to cross the line as the winner.
Congratulations to the other cadets

Sunday well spent.
Started at our own track getting some practice in at LKC before deciding to head back to the big track and watch the Supercars.
Ollie met so many of his favourite drivers and loved the grid walk experience.
Such a great day.
