Rainbow Beach Amateur Anglers Captain’s Report for September 2026
Despite southerly winds gusting up to 50 km/h, hardy fishers ventured into creeks and straits for crabbing and fishing. Their catches included bream, flathead, whiting, tarwhine and bar-tail and dusky flathead.
Junior and Cadet Competition
Marley Roy and Benny Stafford battled away in the straits to add to their points tally for the season with 3 points and 1 point respectively to bring Marley’s seasons total to 17 points edging Benny into second place with 15 points as well. It looks like these two will battle it out for Junior honours this season.
Darci Roy continued to add points to her season tally with a great 3 point whiting weighing 453 grams, an impressive fish, to take out first place in the cadet competition.

Cadet Winner – Darci Roy -3 Points
Adult Competition
Linda Mora presented a great bag of fish including Flathead and Whiting to post 12 points to her season’s tally, closely followed by Gary Enkelmann with Tailor, Tarwhine and Dart off the beach to post 11 points and Brian Byrne rounding out 3rd place with 11points. The tie breaker was deployed to separate Gary & Brian as Gary presented 4 fish and Brian presented 6 fish.
Adult Winners:
1st Place Linda Mora – 12 points
2nd Place Gary Enkelmann - 11 points – 4 fish
3rd Place Brian Byrne – 11 points – 6 fish
Female Competition
The female competition is warming up with Linda Mora, Kim Wright and Megan Roy all weighing in good bags of fish including whiting, flathead and bream.
Female Winners:
1st Place – Linda Mora – 11 Points
2nd Place - Megan Roy – 9 Points
3rd Place – Kim Wright – 7 Points

Junior Dart: Marley Roy – 502 grams - Sponsored by RBAA
Crab Competition
While the tides were ideal for crabbing, the crabs are on the wane at the moment heading for deeper water.
Patty Glover continued to add to his points tally with 5 good crabs to post 5 points and Nev Stutz posting 4 points. Sponsored by Crab’N’Gear.

Brag Mat Competition sponsored by Dobinsons Spring & Suspension & Rainbow Beach 4x4 Accessories
Some impressive catches were recorded for the Brag Mat Competition this month.
Whiting - Gary Enklemann and Jim McGuckin both presenting whiting at 39cm and Brian Byrne registering a whiting at 36.5cm.
Snapper – Brian Byrne registered a nice snapper at 77cm.
