Below is a Photograph and excerpt from another site regarding kart rear bar protection. Here in Australia we have rules that prohibit the wheel being inside the rear bar AND rules that prohibit wet tyres and adjustablerear bars being narrowed to less than 1340.
The FIA appears to have identified a safety issue with tyre to tyre contact. I wonder how this will affect our rules moving forward.

This is difficult to explain but here goes
I raced this weekend in KA3 Senior Medium for some much needed practice driving the KA100
Saturday practice was fun but the highlight was when my boy Mitch, his beautiful partner Rhi and their adorable son, my grandson, Hugh came up for a visit. That was Saturday done and I went back home for the night coz I just wanted to be with my wife.
Back to the track Sunday and rolled up for qualifying in a small 7 kart field of KA3 medium punters. Sitting on the grid I realized I was 3 times older than the next oldest driver which was a bit amusing but then it hit me.
I was the only one on the grid without his dad standing behind him.
40 years ago my dad was right there sending me out to race and I guess today just brought all those memories back.
This is just a reminder to all the young ones to cherish the moments karting with your parents brings because they won’t always be there.
BUT, this sport certainly gives you an extended family group that always makes a weekend of kart racing fulfilling both physically and emotionally.
