B4CF Friends, Family and Fellow campers. It is with great sadness that we are announcing the club will be taking an indefinite hiatus starting this semester. For those who don't speaky the good the English, this means that we will not be running our events for the foreseeable future.
Since semester 142 (May 2014) Bond University 4WD, Camping and Fishing has had the pleasure of being able to give campers from over 20 countries across the globe the opportunity to experience a taste of Australia that regular tourists & trips all too often skip over. (Get the tissues out for excitement or sadness fluids, because we're about to go on a feels trip).
Over its two years of operations, B4CF has managed to exceed all expectations of its initial conception over a couple of coldies between the clubs Founding President David Brachen (Uncle Ernie) and Vice President Rob Paolo (Knobbe/Bullcock Turnbull). After the hangover had passed, fellow founding Exec team members; Treasurer Francis Filler (Frank/Ranga Irwin) & Marketing & Promotions Director Sam Fryer (Rolf Harris Jnr) were recruited after undergoing rigorous intelligence & fitness challenges to test whether they could work above and beyond their roles under all condtions (sober/non-sober).
Since the first on-campus event; Meat Meet and Greet, B4CF began to collect a cult-like following of out door enthusiasts and average-Joe's alike, who wanted to have an adventure of a lifetime. With music blaring over the ampitheatre speakers and great banter, Meat Meet and Greet proved to be a successful conversion point for many vegetarians to become carnivors, after getting a whiff of some crispy bacon and their first taste of true Aussie sausage.
Post Mid-semesters exams then came the semesterly event in which B4CF truly lived up to its name; The Great Aussie Adventure of 4WDing, Camping, Fishing, and everything in between. As those who attended the camping trips would agree, they were life changing in multiple aspects and regularly involved many first time experiences. From burning marshmellows over the fire, trecking through bushland, exploring serene beaches as far as the eye can see and occassionally getting in and out of sticky situations, each trip proved to be as unique as the characters who attended.
A special thank you is due to our current Secretary Liang-zi Carr (Fhong Shuei) semesters 153-162, her predecessor Caitlin Shervill (Bruce) semesters 151-152 and our founding Exec secretary Alicia Van Laarhoven semesters 142-143. Our secretaries were always essential team members to keep the boys in line, and as the head female on the trips.
Further thanks goes to our other essential members who fulfilled various roles over the clubs life including the current Events Director Sam Davis (Simba), Dean Knobel (Knob-hole), Dylan Totos (Ti***es), Dylan Cooper, Jude Gur (Gurtrude), Dean Panic (Borat) and Luke Salvatore (Lust-Grove) and our Griffith brothers Mason Wright (Mas-turbanator) & Basil Pesto.
Last, but certainly not least, each of us here at B4CF wholeheartedly thanks every single individual who has supported our trips in all aspects, primarily our outstanding trip-goers who made each and every memory count. May we oneday reunite and relive the good times.
"Life is not a destination, it's a journey. Cheers for making our journey all the more sweeter."
