GVTA Coaching

Well it has been a busy couple of weekends with our kids travelling to Gladstone & Emerald to compete in their JDS tournaments.
All the kids performed extremely well and made the centre proud of the efforts and results.
In Gladstone the results were:-
10/u Girls Ella singles Runner-up & Doubles winner
11/u Boys Levi winner of Singles & doubles with Hunter taking home runner-up for both singles & doubles. Clean sweep boys well done.
15/17 Boys Declan finished 3rd in singles & runner-up in doubles. not bad considering he is only 12!!!
15/u girls Felicity also finished 3rd in singles but took home the doubles trophy winning the event.
Lily also in the 15/u girls is beginning to play really well if this being only her 5th tournament ever!!! A hard fought 6th in singles but an awesome effort with receiving runner-up in doubles.
Last weekend saw 5 of our juniors travel to Emerald and again acquit themselves beyond their years.
Declan in Tier 1, performed out of his skin finishing with the runners-up trophy in both the singles and doubles. Talis also made the top grade taking honours in the doubles.
Levi at 11 yrs old finished 5th in the singles & runner-up in the doubles for Tier 2 with Felicity finishing 6th in singles but wearing the winners crown in the doubles.
Lily kept up her strong performance Tier 3 topping off with a 3rd in singles and winner of the doubles.
Again well done to all the kids GVTA & RRTC are super proud of you all!!! See less

Come join Kim and I for our last time ever operating a tournament. Please see our attached flyer for all the wonderful parents and players that have supported us for the past 25 years, both in Rocky and Emerald.

For the last 1 ever I'm glad to be able to offer our world famous bacon & egg McSnoweys for both Saturday & Sunday mornings from 7am. It would not have been the same without mate!!

Our boy has been in Guam competing at an ITF tournament and he smashed his way through qualies. He won his first round match 7/5 6/1 after being 4/1 down in the first. This showed his grit and determination on how much he wanted it. He is now again ranked an international tennis player. He also made 2nd round in the doubles with his Japanese friend going down to the number 1 seeds 6/2 6/2. We are so proud of you bud. You need to look after your body especially after your accident. Lachy is off to China now for 4 weeks. Good luck bud. We love you loads.

I hope you all are enjoying tennis in 2026.

I'm trying to organise an awesome team style trip to Townsville to compete in the 2026 O8k J125 CBC Green Townsville Open Age - Western Suburbs (Northern Skies Series) in August and would like EOI from you guys!!!

The trip will be organised similar to the old teams carnival concept with players travelling together by bus to Townsville sharing cabins (6 per cabin) with brekky and dinner supplied daily. Please see flyer attached with approximate costings.

Players and parents are welcome to travel & stay with the team with price being the same for both.

Craig Hindmarsh has agreed to generously drive the bus for trip.

Tanya has also agreed to try and source sponsors which will assist in reducing costs for the trip.

If you'd like to join the team for an awesome tennis experience please respond asap for accom/bus and also please add in your shirt size. Also if you have any dietary requirements please let me know as well

OUR PLAY NIGHTS

MONDAY
5:45 pm sign on and warm up for a 6:00 pm start
Monday nights are best suited to players who already have some knowledge of pickleball. These sessions are for players who do not require instruction, are comfortable taking the court with a variety of players, understand the basics of the game, and can score either independently or with a little assistance.

WEDNESDAY
5:45 pm sign on and warm up for a 6:00 pm start
Wednesday nights are for fixtures and pre-registered matches for intermediate to advanced players. There is no social play on these nights.

THURSDAY
5:45 pm sign on and warm up for a 6:00 pm start
Thursday nights are for beginners and social players. We have instructors available on these nights to help teach newcomers, and the evening is structured so that all levels are catered for in a supportive and enjoyable way. If you would like to come along and give pickleball a go, this is the perfect night. If you would like to play with a friend for the evening, we can help make that happen too.

SUNDAYS
Times to be advised
Now that the weather is cooling down, Sunday sessions will be announced soon. These afternoons are a great opportunity for social play and a perfect way to finish off the weekend.
