The Fitzroy River runs through the heart of Rockhampton in Central Queensland and is the largest river catchment flowing to the eastern coast of Australia. The Fitzroy boasts a straight rowing course which is not impacted by tides. It’s located close to the City’s centre with easy parking, easy boat launching and a great climate. Rockhampton’s Fitzroy Rowing Club caters for beginners, social and competitive rowers. The Club’s squads have grown considerably in the past few years, with members competing for the first time at the 2016 Australian Rowing Championships in Sydney; as well as placing at the 2016 Australian Masters Championships held at Lake Kawana. Fantastic to see Fitzroy Rowers race the Head of the Brisbane this morning. The 9.5km head race started and finished at Toowong Rowing Club. Dougal & Jorja teamed up with Centenary Rowing Club to race the U19 Mens Quad & U19 Women’s Double, respectively. And Layla coxed the North Shore Men’s Masters Eight. 💪💙

Thank you to everyone involved!

Congratulations to our Fitzroy Masters on a fantastic weekend at the 2026 Australian Outback Rowing Regatta! Racing a Mixed Eight, the crew had a great time competing on Saturday at the Barcaldine Rec Park; and Sunday on the Thompson River, Longreach.💪

Was awesome to welcome the start of the Outback Rowing Convoy here in Rocky last week, with an afternoon row and BBQ Dinner on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River. 💙

A terrific few days in the Outback with top company and of course… some rowing. Thank you Outback Rowing Australia. 👏👏

THE EMBLEMS ARE HERE 🙌🔥

Consider this your official reveal 😉

Inspired by our reef, beaches, hinterland and everything in between, they bring together the places, people and spirit that will take us to 2032.

Distinctive. Unmistakably Queensland. And just a little bit cheeky.

And yes… that little character is a cockatoo!

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - this one’s yours 💗

Piece of Olympic History. 🧩

Special morning as the treasure hunt continues with the Emblems Discovery across Queensland. The third piece of the 2032 Emblem puzzle was found here in Rockhampton by the incredible Olympic and Paralympic Legends, Anna Meares and Angela Ballard.

It was wonderful for rowers to meet Andrew Liveris AO, the President of the Board of the Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What will the emblem be??? 🥭🐢🪸🐊

Amazing piece of history to be part of. Thank you Brisbane 2032.
