Great start to the 2026 Australian Beach Sprints Rowing Championships.🏝️

Congratulations Calli & Abby!! Day 1 and our Fitzroy rowers finished 13th and 14th in the Open Women’s Beach Sprint Solo. 👏 👏

Calli also teamed up with Coby from Avon Club NZ, to win Bronze🥉in the U23 Mixed Beach Sprint Double. (1st in the B Final).

🚣 If you are planning a trip up the river next week, please be aware that we are re-installing the 2000m eight-lane buoyed rowing course between the ski gardens and approximately 2000m upstream.

Installation is expected to happen between 31 August and 14 September in preparation for the 2026 Queensland Schools’ Rowing Championship, which will be held between 19 and 21 September.

We appreciate the community’s patience while the training course is being installed.

📣 When is the best time to secure your new Play On! Sports Voucher?

Applications for Play On! Sports Vouchers will open on 27 July, with up to $200 available to help Queensland kids aged from 5-17 participate in sport.

There will be two opportunities to apply this financial year.

If you’re planning ahead for summer sport, it’s best to apply this round. If your focus is on winter sports like netball or football, you may prefer to wait for the round later this financial year.
