OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT | FUTURE OF RUGBY LEAGUE AT RUNAWAY BAY

With the EOI process for the future tenure of the Runaway Bay Rugby League precinct now closed, we believe our members and broader community deserve a clear and factual understanding of how this process came about, what Football has sought to achieve, and the position we have put forward to Council.

Until now, Football has deliberately limited its public commentary out of respect for the EOI process and the confidential discussions involved.

With submissions now lodged, we are releasing our full Club Statement.

We encourage our members and the wider Runaway Bay community to take the time to read it in full.

This statement represents the position endorsed by Runaway Bay Junior and Senior Rugby League Football.

As Council’s assessment process remains underway, Football will continue to respect that process.

Our rugby league community has been reminded again just how important it is to look after one another — not just on the field, but off it too.

Behind every jersey, every smile and every familiar face is a person with their own thoughts, worries, pressures and struggles. Sometimes the people we least expect may be doing it tough.

As a club, we believe checking in, listening and simply asking “Are you okay?” can make a difference.

If you or someone you care about is doing it tough, help is available. We’ve partnered with White Cloud to connect our community with real support.

📞 Call White Cloud on 07 3155 3456 for free mental health assistance — no referral needed.

You don’t have to be a player to reach out. This support is for anyone who needs it.

Look out for your mates. Check in on your family. Ask twice. Listen without judgement.

🏉 We look after our own.
💙 Bay Family.
