That's it, school holidays start Monday 21 September.

Two weeks off is a lot of unstructured time, and an intensive week is a genuinely good way to fill one of them properly. It looks like concentrated lessons across the week, small groups, and real momentum, instead of one lesson every seven days with a break in between.

This building has taught two generations of local swimmers.

Marlins was founded in 1996, and thirty years on, we've grown from our original Mackay and Ayr pools to a new home in Bundall. Same commitment to small classes and real progress, just reaching more families.

Lessons run on Wednesdays 8: 30am - 11:30am (morning) 3:30pm - 5:30pm (afternoon)at our Mackay pool.

One week until school holidays. An intensive week is the fastest safety catch-up there is.

School holidays start next Monday, and there's still time to book an intensive week at Marlins Mackay. For parents whose first concern is safety, this is concentrated water time, back-to-back sessions rather than one lesson a week. Small groups of three to five swimmers per instructor mean nothing gets missed, and skills that need real repetition, like back floats and wall recovery, get exactly that.

Limited spots per session, across both Mackay and Ayr.

What do we actually mean when we say a swimmer can look after themselves in the water?

Safety first. Technique second. Here's the order we teach at Marlins Mackay, and why. Before we refine a single stroke, every swimmer learns three things. Roll onto their back and float. Find the wall and get to it. Get in and out of the water without needing anyone's help.

This is water safety for kids in its most practical form, a skill their body knows before panic has a chance to set in.

Technique makes a swimmer faster. These skills are what keep them safe. 🌊

"Is my child ready to move up a swim level?" It's one of the most common questions parents ask, so here's exactly how our instructors decide.

It's never about one good lesson. We're watching for the skill done consistently, done without prompting, and done even when a swimmer is tired. That's the real test of swim level progression, not a single lucky attempt in front of an audience.
