💜THRIVE TUESDAY💜
If you’re over 50, which type of exercise should you be prioritising most?
The answer is- they all matter, but some become especially important as we get older.
🥇1. Strength training
Probably the biggest priority for maintaining muscle, supporting bone strength and helping us stay independent in everyday life.
Begin with your own body weight, then add resistance bands or light hand weights as you get stronger, then progressing to heavier weights when your body is ready.
⚖️2. Balance
Balance becomes increasingly important with age. Good balance helps with stability, confidence and reducing the risk of falls.
🚶♀️3. Cardio
Still essential for heart health, circulation, stamina and overall fitness. Walking, swimming, cycling, dancing and low-impact cardio all count.
🌟4. Mobility & flexibility
Keeping our joints moving well helps us stay comfortable, maintain range of movement and keep doing the things we enjoy.
The goal isn’t to choose just one…
✨A healthy week should ideally include a mixture of strength, balance, cardio and mobility.
And you don’t need to do huge workouts, small amounts, done consistently, can make a real difference.
Which of these do you think you need to work on most at the moment??
