Finding a form of exercise you'll actually keep doing is one of the best things you can do for your joints — and for staying active long-term.
That's the takeaway from our sponsor Nelson Bay Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre's latest article, looking at new international recommendations (EULAR, 2026) on exercise for people managing arthritis. Among the key points: movement spread across your whole day matters, and the exercise that works best is the one you enjoy enough to stick with.
For a lot of our members, that's exactly what brought them to pickleball in the first place — social, low-impact (well, if you don't play 2 hours straight for 3 days like I did once), and easy to come back to week after week.
Taking from the paper also, you can make use of your sports tracking devices (Apple Watch, Garmin Watch, a fitness bracelet, or even just a heart rate arm band paired with your phone) to track and measure your effort to meet (don't exeed too much!) your daily target while on court.
Thanks to Scott and the team at Nelson Bay Physiotherapy for sharing this. Link in the first comment.
