LONG-TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT 🏃‍♂️🏋️‍♂️
Junior athlete development isn’t about seeing how much we can get out of an athlete today.
It’s about building the athlete they can become 5, 6 or even 10 years from now.
That means understanding that a 12 or 13-year-old athlete doesn’t need to train like an 18-year-old.
Instead, the focus should be on building the foundations:
⚡ Speed
💪 Strength
🚀 Power
🧠 Coordination
🏃‍♂️ Efficient movement
🔄 Robustness and resilience
The goal isn’t to chase every PB or make every session as hard as possible.
The goal is to develop movement quality, confidence and physical qualities progressively, while allowing young athletes to enjoy their sport and continue improving over the long term.
Sometimes the biggest wins aren’t the ones you see on a scoreboard.
They’re the extra training sessions that an athlete is able to complete because they’re managing their workload.
They’re the improved movement patterns developed from a young age.
They’re the confidence that comes from becoming stronger, faster and more capable.
And they’re creating an athlete who is prepared for the demands of the next stage of their sporting journey.

Build the foundations now. Develop the athlete for later.
At MC Personal Training, our Junior Athlete Development programs are designed to help young athletes build the physical qualities and movement skills they need to progress in their sport.

✨ Taking time to recharge ✨

After a long, beautiful week doing work I love, Fridays have become my time to pause and refill my own cup.

I’ve recently joined Recovery Room, and it’s given me the opportunity to truly practise what I preach:

🔥 Recovery is important BEFORE burnout.

Let’s repeat that for the people in the back…

👏 BEFORE. BURNOUT. HAPPENS. 👏

For me, that means leaving the house, stepping away from the never-ending to-do list, slowing down and focusing on my breathwork.

Recovery SHOULDN'T wait until you’re completely exhausted or your body forces you to stop. Rest isn’t lazy- it’s an important part of looking after your body, mind and nervous system.

You don’t have to wait until your cup is empty before you refill it. 💗

What helps you recharge before you reach burnout?
