Wrapping up another weekend of results across the club, with some close finishes and strong individual performances.
Our 1st Grade faced Kensington in the Hahn One Day Cup, with Hayden Schiller, Harvey Box and Brandon Bray taking three wickets apiece after bowling first. Kabir Luthra raised the bat with 50 in reply, but it wasn’t enough as we fell short in a disappointing result.
Our 2nd and 3rd Grade matches against Woodville sit in the balance after day one. Both sides batted first, with patient knocks of 48 from Austin Fielke and 62 from Amitoj Sidhu helping post defendable totals. Our 4th Grade fell 20 runs short against Kensington in a high scoring affair, with Rahman Kahlon claiming three wickets and Pete Mernagh again leading the way with a quickfire 66 at the top.
Sunday saw our Under 17s secure a thrilling final over win against Tea Tree Gully. Prabhsimran Singh’s outstanding 60 from just 37 balls swung the chase our way, while Abhijot Sandhu’s economical 2/18 proved crucial in a match where runs flowed freely. Our other junior sides faced strong opposition and couldn’t secure a win, despite notable efforts from Curtis Clifton with 4/35 from 12 overs in the Under 15.5s and Jackson Schubert with 30 from 32 balls in the Under 14s.
Our women bounced back with a strong win over Adelaide University. After working hard to post 74, a clinical bowling display saw them dismiss Adelaide University for just 51, with Caitlyn Toholke leading the way with three wickets. With growing numbers in our women’s program, we also welcomed a new team into the ATCA competition. They marked the occasion with a dominant win, led by Maddie Cameron’s 48 and a bowling effort that kept the runs to a minimum while sharing the wickets around.
