The devastating floods in Nepal have left countless families grieving and communities in need. As one united Nepalese community in Tasmania, let us come together to honour the lives lost, pray for those affected, and stand in solidarity with Nepal.

A fundraising campaign will also be organised during the vigil, with donations directed straight to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (PMO Account) to support flood-affected communities in Nepal.

We play cricket almost every week for fun but today Cricket was played for a cause over at Cornelian Bay, Tasmania. Gurkha Legends and Expert Cricket Club Tasmania came together to play a charity match for the families and communities affected by the recent devastating floods that washed away everything that came in its way. Players from Moonlight Rhinos Cricket Club and Envision Cricket Club joined in as we commemorated the lives lost during the floods and for a minute of silence. The funds raised today during the game and by the clubs will be donated directly to the Prime Minster Disaster Relief Fund Nepal.

The Tasmanian Nepalese Cricket Association (TNCA) has made a donation of NPR 54,000 to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund in an effort to support the Government of Nepal and communities affected by the recent devastating flash flooding originating from Tibet.

We recognise that no amount of financial assistance can bring back the lives that have been lost, nor can it erase the trauma, grief and hardship this catastrophe has brought to families and communities. Our contribution is a small gesture of solidarity and support during an incredibly difficult time.

On behalf of the entire TNCA family we extend our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones and our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this tragedy.

At times like these, distance does not diminish our connection to home. As a Nepalese community in Tasmania, we stand together with our brothers and sisters in Nepal and hope that those impacted find strength, support and comfort as they begin the difficult process of recovery.

Congratulations to the VXL Education Tasmania on the recognition. VXL education Tasmania has been a strong supporter of Tasmanian Nepalese Cricket Initiatives and it is great to see our supporters and well wishers getting recognised in the community we thrive in.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting with Glenorchy City Council, the Hon. Mayor Sue Hickey and Alderman Mr. Stuart Slade. We were warmly welcomed by the Mayor and Alderman who once again assured us of the Council's willingness to support, guide and work alongside TNCA as we continue our journey.

Glenorchy City Council has played a huge part in the success of TNCA's programs over the years, and with our outgoing President and current TNCA Advisor, Mr. Kamal Bhandari helping bridge the continuity, we were able to pick up the conversation from where we left off last season and discuss how TNCA can continue to add greater value to the initiatives and community priorities of Glenorchy City Council.

For TNCA, partnerships like this are about much more than cricket. They are about bringing people together, creating opportunities for aspiring cricketrs, supporting families and contributing positively to the community we call home.

Over the past week, TNCA had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Cricket Tasmania to reflect on the season gone by and look ahead to an exciting season ahead.

We are proud and privileged to have Cricket Tasmania’s guidance, support and partnership as we continue to grow cricket across Southern and Northern Tasmania.

More than cricket, this partnership is about community, participation and bringing people together through sport. We are proud that the work of the Tasmanian Nepalese Cricket Association is being recognised for its contribution to the wider Tasmanian sporting community.

Together, we look forward to building a stronger, more inclusive and connected cricket community across Tasmania.
