Sandy Bay Bowls & Community Club

The Australian Police and Emergency Services Games are being hosted by sporting organisations in southern Tasmania and the bowls events will be held at Sandy Bay! There will be bowlers from around Australia playing events during Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (17th to 21st). Come down to the Club and watch some great bowls and maybe enjoy a drink or two.
The Club will be open this afternoon to enable some practice, the bar will be open.

Life member Lindsay Lovell celebrated his 80th birthday at the Club on Friday night. Old friends arrived from as far away as Mudgereeba and Broadbeach to relive old victories and help him celebrate 🎉

Great day today for RACV Hotel Xmas party - food vans on site, lawn bowls and a few quiet drinks made the day a roaring success (and a fat man in a red suit also popped in)!

On Saturday 4th November we hosted an engagement party for 120 people who enjoyed venue hire and the use of our synthetic bowls green - Julia and James were generous with their praise:
"James and I just want to say a big thank you to you (Jan), Gaele, Jude and Miranda as well as the bowling club for all your help on Saturday. We had such a memorable night and we can't thank you enough. We hope you enjoy the rest of the bowling season!"

Congratulations to Sandy Bay club legend Robert McMullen who last night won the Australian Championship Singles at Broadbeach BC.
Formally known as Rowdy put on what you would call a bowls clinic in the final where he won 25-2 against Northern Territory.

President Mark Quinane was on hand today making presentations.

A team of five players will be representing the Club next week at the prestigious Helensvale Bowls Club five a side competition - Stewart Cashion, Keghan Scott Booth, Justin Plummer, Bryce Guy and Darren Beattie will be playing, with Ryan Mccoull taking on the manager roll. The Board were happy to contribute to the entry fee for the event and we all wish the team every success.

Bill Mottershead will be travelling to Western Australia next week representing Tasmania in the State Bowling Arm Team and the Board were also happy to be able to assist him with his travel expenses, we hope that he and the team perform well in the West.
