The Lionesses were at their dominant best on the weekend, running away victorious over Sorell. Our pressure and ball movement were on from the opening bounce, allowing us to control the game and pile on the scoreboard pressure across all four quarters.
Urshla Connor was rock solid everywhere she went, while Mia Giles continued her strong form up forwards slotting 5. Mimosa Middleton-Miller worked tirelessly throughout the day with support from Emma Upton provided plenty of composure behind the ball. A great team performance and another important win as we continue to build through the season.
Just across the road, the Reserves were back to their winning ways in a 53 point victory. Brodie Wills had about 45 in a BOG performance, Harry Scott and Kaleb “Frog” Harris both kicked 2 in their club debuts, and Henry Ostler made a return from across the Bass Strait. Riley Ho**er also played, hopefully we can get him along for a few more.
Coach Jack Freeman put on a masterful display in his last game for a while, leading the boys with aplomb. He heads west for a few months to pretend to be a builder over there. Thank you to Jack for his work over the past few months, the job that he and Lewis have done building the 1.5s culture and footy brand has been outstanding! Hopefully he can make it back in time for finals if we are good enough to be there.
In the seniors, we took on University in the Southee/Palyfreyman Cup. The cup honours two great players and clubmen of our respective clubs, and the game is always played in a spirit they would be proud of. After a well fought first half, the Lions came out strong after the break and came away with a 53 point win and take the cup back to Queenborough. The old crew were back in force, with Panda dominating in the ruck, Gava hand balling well all day, and Franksy returned to the scene of his leg break with 7 goals. The young lads also were good, with Zac Bounds, Lochie “Choc” Fulgsang and Blake Marriot all dominating.
This coming weekend the boys return to Queenborough to take on OHA, get along to watch a couple of high quality games!

100 SFLW Games Milestone Alert!!
Sophie Botterill-James from Hutchins School Old Boys Football Club plays her 100th SFLW Senior game this weekend making her the 31st player to play 100 SFLW games.
Starting her career in 2019 at Kingborough Sophie would play 24 games and kick 1 goal. Then in 2021 she would make the move to North Hobart where she would play 17 games and kick a goal. Then finally made her way to Hutchins in 2023 where she's been since and has played 58 games and kicked 6 goals and has arguably become one of the most valuable players. Another all round player that can play anywhere and incredibly dangerous anywhere on the field
Congratulations Sophie on 100 SFLW games!

Just across the road, the boys take on University in the Battle of the 7005. At 11:45am, the 1.5s return from the bye refreshed and ready to go. They’ll be looking to solidify their place in the top four and build momentum towards finals after a couple of wet weeks.
