🧦❤️ WHY I WALK IN RED SOCKS…
Sometimes amongst all the organising, sponsors, registrations, entertainment and everything else that goes into this event, I think it’s important to stop and remember why I started doing this in the first place.
Kidney disease has been part of my life since I was a little girl. I’ve lived through kidney problems, surgeries, losing my right kidney and now living with one low-functioning kidney and Stage 4 kidney disease.
It’s something I live with every day — but I don’t want my kidney journey to just be about what I can’t do.
I want to turn it into something positive. ❤️
That’s why supporting Kidney Health Australia and the Red Socks Appeal means so much to me, and why I created our Walking in Red Socks for Kidney Health – 24HR Community Relay Walkathon.
Yes, I’ll be out there challenging myself again this year to walk at least 60km in 24 hours… but this event has never been just about me or how far I can walk.
It’s about bringing our community together.
It’s about raising awareness.
It’s about supporting Kidney Health Australia.
And it’s about every person and family who has been touched by kidney disease.
Maybe you have kidney disease yourself.
Maybe it’s your mum, dad, partner, child, friend or someone you’ve lost.
Or maybe you simply want to support a cause and be part of something pretty special.
Whatever your reason is… I’d love you to put on your red socks and walk with us. 🧦❤️
You don’t have to walk for 24 hours. You don’t have to be super fit. Do a few laps, an hour, a shift with your team — whatever you can.
Every lap, every person and every pair of red socks helps tell the story.
❤️ This is my reason. What could yours be?
