Club champs
We have had a busy few weeks here at the SBCC and a great conclusion to the summer season with the running of the club championships.
All bunches had a solid hit out with countless attacks witnessed in blustery conditions and some special solo break away performances particularly from Steven (the dark knight) Duke. James Hender is our new A grade club champ after a solid sprint against Fletcher Christensen with Phil Smith in third place.
unfortunately there was a clip of wheels with Thommo hitting the deck. He is ok with a bit of bark off , ( the road surface didn’t fair to well) lucky fella has a nurse 👩‍⚕️ on call at home 🏠.
Our B grade champ is Mark Ruttiman coming home strong from Gav Gardner 2nd 🥈 and Shayne Kirby for 3rd 🥉
C Grade also had a solid sprint with Christy Rilen taking the win 🥇 with Ian Baker
2nd 🥈 and Ray GRANT TAKING 3rd 🥉

Videos may be added of the race via comments shortly

Racing resumes Saturday 11th April on the highlands road out and back twice circuit

Congrats to our very own power couple!
Dan Judd and Kim Leanne on their recent triathlon results in the Gold Coast last week.

Kim had a solid performance on and off the bike through each discipline , even had to do another triathlon pretty much anyway just to get her bike so Dan could use it when his decided to s$&t itself!
Dan had a solid day as well finishing 4th overall , it appears Kimmies bike fits well 😄
Well done to both of you

On Saturday evening March 14 the SBCC were generously hosted by Ray, Freya and Alisa Grant at Cafe 96 for our first presentation of life members in over 20 years.
Our 4 original members were the first recipients of the new medals that had been struck up for the occasion. Don Gee, Ted Kirby, Jeff Hibberd and Carol Burgess (on behalf of her late husband, John) were enthusiastically received by the members and friends in attendance which made a great start to the night.
Following this there was a procession of 7 new members to add to the list, they being Bryan White, Shayne Kirby, Alan Christensen, Jeff Madex, Kevin Bartlett, Ian Gallagher, Ian Baker and the late Terry Lemon whose medal was received by his wife Di.
Bret Bender and Glenn Christensen received theirs at last nights final twilight. Glen Jacobs unfortunately couldn’t attend but will be presented with his in the near future.
The evening was a great success. Thanks to the Grant family for a delicious meal and excellent venue. Many thanks to Jeff Hibberd for his tireless efforts organising the whole shebang. We look forward to seeing who next year’s inductees could be.
Keep an eye out as we will send some updates on how the last few races have been going in coming days

On a hot day the SBCC held a well attended race, 25 riders, to raise funds for the local Longwood community that had been devastated by the recent fires, starting and finishing at the Longwood pub
A number of riders made the long trek from Echuca Moama CC, Mansfield Mt Buller CC, Euroa and beyond.
In trying conditions the remainders of the 14, 12 and 10 minute groups had amalgamated by the 35k mark and would hold off the back markers to take the top 5 placings.
Clare Goodman, EMCC (14min) saluted in first place for a great win, followed by
2nd Glenn Withers, Euroa 10min
3rd Julia Wood, SBCC 14min
4th Matt Dobeli, EMCC 10min
5th Will Kettle, EMCC 10min
6th and fastest in 1.11.30, Andy Garrett SBCC Scr
7th Shayne Kirby, SBCC 6min
8th Matt Grealy, EMCC 3min
9th Cam Smith, EMCC 3min
10th Ben Hughes, Defence forces 3min
Well done to all the prize winners who generously donated their prizemoney back to the club who in turn stuck it in the donation tower in the pub
Thanks to Katrina from the White Hart Hotel for hosting us in the beer garden for our presentation and providing a great food spread.
All up the donations amounted to $900 in total which was a fantastic result
Lastly we need to thank the following club members for their generous support in making the day what it was
Steve, James, Jeff H, Jeff M, Cafe 96, Thommo, Bret, Jules, Christy, Kirbs, Al and Ted
As well as our volunteers Merle, KB, Laurie, Al, Ted and Tabatha
Well done to all who attended, many thanks from the SBCC
