Looking to try a sport that's a bit different? An Olympic sport that isn't your everyday, mainstream, traditional sport in Australia?
Our Wednesday sessions are held in the gym of Sheidow Park Primary School (enter from the rear of the school in Alkira Road, Sheidow Park). We train during public school terms - rain, hail, shine or heatwave!
All equipment and coaching is provided and no experience is necessary ... although if you fenced years ago, why not come and have a go again? We are an inclusive club and everyone 5 years and over is most welcome.
* The Short and Shorty Swords (5 -13 years) from 6 pm to 7 pm
* The Main Swords (14+ years) from 7 pm to 9 pm
Cost is a most reasonable $40 annual fee + $165 for 11 weeks. Sports Vouchers can be used too!
Interested? Why not make 2026 the year you give it a go? Contact us via Messenger or email us at [email protected]. Looking forward to welcoming you on week 1, Wednesday 28 January 2026!

Tonight Ola Shelton, the National Sabre Coach, visited the Club. A great footwork and technique session, aided by 5 sabre coaches ... yes, we repeat five sabre coaches (Hugh, Spencer, Sam, Leon and Peter). Plus Jenny doing stuff in the background to make sure the night ran smoothly ... a total of 7 sabre coaches present!
Some pics of the night from The Shorty Swords, The Short Swords and The Main Swords.

Thanks to a Federal Goverment Volunteers' Grant plus our Port Adelaide Cycling Club bbq fundraisers we are rearranging our storage room to make it easier and more efficient for our volunteers to get gear out. Here's the first item - a custom made mobile épée storage rack that fits 16 weapons. Thanks Simon, we love it!

Maintenance and repair of fencing gear is soooo important to keep a Club going!
Yesterday we held a bodywire fixit workshop with 56 bodywires checked and/or repaired (23 foil, 33 epee). Woohoo! After all of that hard work, pizza was devoured ... not a single morsel was left in the boxes: we must have been hungry!

This week is National Volunteer Week and we would like to give a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who help our Club - our coaches, VIVs (Very Important Volunteers at Club nights), bbq helpers, committee members. Our volunteers play an extremely important part in the Club and we truly appreciate everything you do!
Mel is our 2023 Volunteer of the Year, who was most deservedly voted by other volunteers in the Club at our Volunteer Dinner in February 2024. Our next Volunteer Dinner is coming up very soon, so if you were a volunteer during 2024, expect an invitation soon!
