🎉 Age Group Coordinators 🎉

Our Season is almost here, and just like the kids, we need some champions out on the track… this time it’s the grown-ups we need! 😉

🏁Age Group Coordinators Needed🏁
We’re looking for Age Group Coordinators for every group:
• Under 6 (U6)
• Under 7 (U7)
• Under 8 (U8)
• Under 9 (U9)
• Under 10 (U10)
• Under 11 (U11)
• Under 12 (U12)
• Under 13–15 (combined group)

💡 What’s an Age Group Coordinator?
Think of it as being the “coach/cheer squad/event wrangler/all-round legend” for your group. You’ll:
• Help get the kids to their events (because they’re usually too busy chasing each other 🤭)
• Keep the fun flowing and encourage other parents to help at the field events
• Be part of a weekly group chat with the committee so you’re always in the loop
• MOST importantly: you won’t be buried in admin – that’s all sorted by us. You just bring the energy!

👯‍♂️ Not a solo gig!
There can be more than one coordinator per age group. Want to share the role? Split boys/girls? Tag-team weekends? Easy. The more the merrier!

🛡️ Important – WWVP Requirement
Because our kids’ safety always comes first, all Age Group Coordinators are required to hold a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card. It’s part of Tasmania’s Safeguarding Children framework, and it’s a must-have before stepping into the role. (If you don’t have one yet, get cracking on the application now so you’re ready for the season.)

Because the kids love it when their parents and carers are out there getting involved. It makes the day run smoother, the events more fun, and let’s be honest… you’ll get front-row seats to all the PBs, high-fives, and epic long jumps. 🚀

The table attached will show you which Age Group your athlete is in based on their year of birth!

📝 Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Checks at SEDLAC 📝

At SEDLAC, the safety and comfort of all children is our priority 🫶 This is why all adults assisting, whether it's in the canteen, on the finish line, raking a pit or offering support on the side lines, require a Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVPR).

We also know young people feel safer 💞 and more comfortable when a trusted adult is nearby, so even if you don't have a WWVPR it is important you remain on site while your child participates. There will be designated areas for viewing for those who do not hold a WWVPR and committee members and/or Age Group Coordinators will check regularly and may ask you to move to these viewing areas 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

The map below shows the layout of events and the shaded area is where a WWP check will be required. We are also working on spaces closer to our field events to allow for viewing of these events.

Little Athletics Tasmania is hosting a Southern Tasmania come and try session on Saturday the 19th of September, 1pm at the Domain Athletics Centre! 🏃‍♀️🏃
