The type of Devotion I’m talking about is Devotion to something beyond words and the material world.

I’m talking about something invisible yet potently present in our daily life should we choose to pay attention - as opposed to those things that we might inadvertently be devoting ourselves to unconsciously, those things that suck the life out of us tiny drop by tiny drop without us even realising it.

For me a sense of Devotion interrupts the patterning laid down in our body, minds, nervous systems and hearts by a capitalist society that says to us from a very young age:
♡ There’s not enough time - hurry up.
♡ You’re not doing enough.
♡ You MUST be constantly productive and improving
♡ Be more, earn more, achieve more
♡ Measure up

True Devotion is responsive.
It adapts to sleepless nights, hormonal shifts, emotional load and full calendars.
It meets you where you are — not where you think you should be.
AND…
This is exactly how Devoted (my FREE 5 day Sadhana Series) has been designed.

Inside the series, I guide you through a simple, embodied daily Sadhana — weaving gentle yoga, breath, mantra and reflection — so your practice becomes something you return to, rather than something you restart.

Through my daily practice I’ve come to assess where I’m placing much of my focus and attention in order to ask:

‘Is my daily life a reflection of what I value and am I placing my attention on the things I truly want to be placing my attention on?’

And if not - why not?

How can I direct my attention towards what matters most?

Because the truth is: You are already devoted to something.

Even if you’ve never used that word.

Even if you don’t have a “practice”.

Even if your mat or cushion is gathering dust in the corner.

Devotion can most simply mean: what receives your daily energy.
For many women I work with their focus (without realising) has quietly shifted toward:

♡ Managing everyone else’s needs
♡ Upholding commitments at work and at home
♡ Scrolling unwittingly at night rather than doing something they really love
♡ Pushing through fatigue and promising themselves they’ll rest “later”

None of this is wrong.

But it does cost something.

The cost is steadiness and clarity.

What is lost is the felt sense of being held by something deeper.

Over my decades of yoga practice and working with clients one on one in my yoga therapy clinic and coaching sessions, I’ve come to see that willpower is a terrible long-term strategy.
🤍
Often in a new year we begin January with good intentions, a fresh notebook (or two ;-), a quiet resolve to do better this year — and within weeks, life rushes back in.
🤍
The nervous system already feels like it’s running on empty and slowly, the practices that were meant to support us become another thing we didn’t keep up with.
🤍
Our willpower wavers…yet again.
🤍
Well what if the missing piece to this ‘best of intentions’ puzzle is - devotion?

Devotion isn’t rigid.
It doesn’t bark orders or demand perfection.
Devotion is relational — a daily returning to something that matters because it feeds you.

An early morning return to steadiness, simplicity, and inner quiet 🤍🧘🏽‍♀️.
💦
Summer carries heat not just in the weather, but in our nervous systems, our minds, our emotions. Longer days, fuller calendars, more stimulation. Even the things we love can tip us into over-doing.
💦
This Summer Yoga Intensive is an invitation to move in the opposite direction.
💦
To rise early while the world is still soft.
To practice in our beautiful hall by the sea - before the demands of the day arrive.
To meet summer not with effort, but with presence.
💦
Through seasonal hatha yoga, cooling pranayama, mudra, mantra, and shared silence, we will gently attune to the energy of summer — grounding excess heat, soothing the nervous system, and restoring a sense of inner composure.
💦
This is not about pushing, sweating, or striving. It’s about listening, pacing, and a commitment to what truly sustains you.
💦

As the year comes to a close and I reflect on all the year has brought I take a LONG exhalation…and let go, let go, let go.
💙
2025 was one of the hardest years of my life AND contained many moments of peace, clarity, learning, resilience and great beauty.
💙
I’m ready for a new year - with all its fresh energy and potential - but I know it won’t necessarily be easier.
💙
I am thankful for my practice, my family, my yoga community online and in Byron Shire and I can’t wait to reconnect through our shared practice in 2026. I have so many wonderful offerings planned.
💙
May 2026 be filled with blessings as you navigate the complexities of being human 🙏🏽❤️
