A gentle reminder that team entries and nomination fees are due by 8pm tonight, Sunday evening.

A special thank you to Bill "Crash" Craddock, who has stepped down as President of the Mercantile Cricket Association after an incredible 22 years of service.

For more than two decades, Crash has been at the heart of the MCA, providing outstanding leadership, dedication and passion for community cricket. His contribution has helped shape the association into what it is today, and his legacy will be felt for many years to come.

At last night's AGM, members had the opportunity to acknowledge and thank Crash for his remarkable commitment to the game and the MCA community.

As one chapter closes, another begins. We are pleased to welcome Ari Morton as the new President of the Mercantile Cricket Association and look forward to the next era of growth and success under his leadership.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Saturday grade premiers! It's been a weekend in which teams had to deal with rain-affected pitches, covers shuffling, and in most cases shortened grand finals after days of stressing whether they'd even take place. Well done to all!

PREMIERSHIP SHIELDS in all grades need to be left by their latest winners at Scottia Engraving, 153 Montague St, South Melbourne, no later than April 10. The shields will then be formally handed over until our next finals series, with 2025-26 holders on them, at our Annual Presentation Dinner on Saturday May 2.

ANNUAL DINNER numbers from each club, with any dietary restrictions, need to be notified by SMS to Bill Craddock on 0421-026304 by April 20 and no later. The annual dinner will again be at Windy Hill Social Club, starting 7.30pm on Saturday May 2. This year's guest speaker will be former Test cricketer and current Test selector and CEO of Cricket Victoria, Tony Dodemaide.

Covers are in use at all grand final grounds. They must be pulled back off pitches at 9am to allow further drying unless rain is imminent. Covers should be off tables by 11am.

The B Grade grand final is transferred to Fawkner Park 4, with Parkville District still to provide balls and tea, Sacred Heart to provide all other home team requirements.

The B North grand final is to use whichever of Walker East or Brens dries first.

Grand finals have been postponed to Sunday, the reserve day, due to wet conditions.

Covers are in use Saturday morning.

Home teams must remove covers from the wicket table and commence drying hessians by 11am, or once rain ceases after that. They must remain on-site until 12.30 to reapply covers during showers (hessian not required)

Away teams are required to take over covers-tending duty from 12.30 to 2pm.

Covers must be left off from 2pm to 7pm.

Home sides must put full covers (with hessian) back on between 7pm and 7.30pm, ahead of further possible showers on Saturday night, unless away sides request, by 6pm via SMS to the match secretary, to leave them off to maximize drying time.

Following removal of covers by curators to find significant rain damage to pitches from seepage, the following decisions have been taken by the Executive:

All six Saturday grade grand finals are rescheduled to the reserve day, Sunday, 12.00 noon
Curators have been booked to finish prep of pitches on Sunday morning

Covers were left left off for periods today to allow initial drying of pitches and tables. Showers this afternoon impeded this and pitches and tables are still very damp. Home sides must still apply full table covers this evening between 6pm and sunset (7.30pm), to prevent further forecast overnight showers from turning very damp tables into swamps. Hessian must be used on pitches if it is reasonably dry.

Both home and away teams must check the MCA Website news Saturday 8am for covers-tending directions, as we try to get maximum drying for Sunday. Home sides will definitely need to be ready to put full covers down again on Saturday evening.
